This book picks up loosely after the first two books. The character are still fresh and very entertaining as usual. The battle against evil keeps the boys busy as usual and we get the same conflict type set up as the first two books. If you like d them - you will like this book - I did. There were no major cerebral breakthroughs so we just follow John and Dave to the end as good readers do

Good Read a little loose on the character develop

The writing style so many contributors was a twist in itself. It allowed quickly developed characters but with the story line moving from different traveler's clueless perspectives while still developing the actual character made it hard to feel much for most of the new bands of people trying to gel together. Too many players in too many predictable situations kept it hard to get involved too much. Good story and good narration. I suppose I would read another in this series,

Spend the last of days with a strong loving family

For those readers who made it this far in the series, I think we can agree that listening to this story brings us back to a family struggling to survive after a series of apocalyptic events. We feel that we are part of the family. The story is still engaging as we face new threats and accomplish small steps in recovering what the world was. The only short coming I can think of is the Sarge and the boys are a little too sophomoric but I guess that would be accurate from my understanding of military vernacular.

I will keep reading this series until we know that Morgan and his family are safe.

Duke Fontaine's narration is superbly executed as always - love listening to him.

A first hand account of what people do when it end

The fist book is interesting. It develops the character well and gives us insight to what an average family with a little foresight would do knowing that the end of our society will almost certainly manifest. They scramble to obtain the the things they think they need while the patriarch is out of town and the while the chaos begins. Even making good decision has dire consequences.

True horror story at its best right from the start

This story gets back to the basics. As mentioned in David Wong's book "This Book Is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don't Touch It" there are two types of horror monsters, "...breeders and non-breeders..." This story is built on the former - breeders. It takes the concept to a new height as a troop of stranded Boy Scouts struggle to survive while a "breeder monster" stalks them one by one. The story is very original and keeps the reader on edge with its twists and turns. Not too fond of the chronology jumping back and forth but that's just a personal preference. Great overall. Would recommend it to any true horror fan.

Visceral - not for the faint of heart

All in all this was a very well done collection of short story horror. The narration was well done too. For me, the strong sexual narratives were a bit over the top, but each story appealed to me in some way. That in itself is not common. I enjoyed the fresh perspective brought out by these writers. Some stories completely original, others had excellent twist on existing themes such as zombie apocalypse. I would recommend this collection to anyone who likes this genre especially in short story. Well done.

My favorite book of all time

I know a lot of people have compared this story to another popular book that came out around the same time, but believe me, this story has such strong imagery and strong characters that there truly is no comparison. The end of the world as we know it - evil versus good. The narration is fantastic and seamlessly switches between characters. At times the story wraps around your heart and slowly squeezes - the pain that we all try to ignore in the nature of the human condition. We are often petty, cruel, and insensitive. When there is nothing to lose those traits are magnified ten fold. Only the strong and faithful will make it. I absolutely love this book.

This can happen in the blink of an eye

We have long been held to the belief that the world will end with a bang. The character in this story learn that a quick death would have been much better. Bands of scavengers, and those who are trying to survive compete for limited resources. The character are well developed and the story line is fantastic. There is no dull moments in this story. It will leave you with chills about our future.

Great read for those who look for hidden gems

This book is a story originally written in Russian. There is very little that does not make it through the translation. The horrors the characters encounter in a post apocalyptic world are so imaginative that I had to go back and re-listen to some passages to get a good grasp on what they are truly seeing. The Kremlin itself is not safe place for those that dare to venture outside of the underground subway where the horrors are just as great.
