Historia
New York, 1960: For Benny Lament, music is his entire life. With his father’s deep ties to the mob, the Bronx piano man has learned that love and family can get you in trouble. So he keeps to himself, writing songs for other musicians, avoiding the spotlight…until the night his father brings him to see Esther Mine sing. Esther is a petite powerhouse with a gorgeous voice. And when Benny writes a hit song and performs it with her, their collaboration thrusts the duo onto the national stage…and stirs up old issues and new scrutiny that the mob--and Benny--would rather avoid.

Beautiful "ugly" story set in the 60s. Race, crime, music, mobsters, family, and secrets. Absolutely loved it.

Will she run?
Revisado: 03-20-21
First, I dont understand why all the bad reviews on the female narrator. I enjoyed both narrators.
The story is a journey of working through the pain of the main characters pasts. Both the H and the h avoid "relationships". Our h has abandonment issues. Her parents left her and her relatives let her know she wasn't wanted. Our H experienced a heartbreaking loss and never wants to feel that pain again.

Not a scary ghost story (which is good for me in my opinion). My first podcast for this speaker, I do plan on listening to more.

Murder Mystery

Short mystery packed with enough details to guide you to "who done it". The ending felt rushed, but overall a good mystery.

So many unnecessary scenes
Revisado: 06-27-20
I enjoyed the first book, but this one was too long. it included unnecessary scenes; for example, (possible spoiler) there is a dream sequence that added NOTHING to the story. I found many scenes boring and repetitive. I did enjoy the few scenes that contributed to the story. the narrator is lovely but her other character voices need work.

Historia
Reed York was never my boyfriend. He was the pen. I was the company ink. Though if you want to get technical, we were more like colleagues who hated each other...with benefits. Everything was fine until the charming jerk went behind my back, stole my promotion, and became my boss - literally overnight. Refusing to work beneath him, I transferred 2,014 miles away to our Chicago division. But he’s just announced a last-minute site visit the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and he’s audaciously designated me as his "right-hand gal" during his visit.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 05-09-20
if you like Winter Renshaw, you will like this story. I had a hard time with the narrator. His voice is nice, but he doesn't do a good female voice. It was hard to relate to the female character with his narration.

Historia
Before this ridiculous little arrangement commences, I’d like to make myself indubitably clear: I know who you are, I know that my father hired you, I know why my father hired you, and last but not least: Your services aren’t needed. In fact, I want no part of my father’s billion-dollar empire, and him “gifting” me with one of the “best concierges in the county” won’t change that. However, seeing as my father has strong-armed me into taking this position, it appears as though we’re stuck together - at least until your contract is up next month.

DNF Poor narration
Revisado: 04-25-20
The narrators voice was nice but definitely not suited for this book. He does not do female voices AT ALL. This is the only audible book i stopped because of the narrator. I just couldnt finish it. He would do much better in an all male POV or if someone else did the female voices. I will give this a try on my Kindle.

just a tad too much religion but overall a 5 star
Revisado: 04-07-20
The pacing on this 3rd in the Nine minutes series was a bit different. Felt like too many loose ends being tied up. I still rated it a 5star because I was glad to see how it all ended. The religious part was much more a role in this then compared to the other 2.

Instead of turning those lemons into lemonade, she drinks lemon drop martinis and keys the wrong man's car. Now she works for Huxley Marlow of the Marvelous Marlow Boys, getting shoved in boxes as an on-stage magician's assistant. A cool job for some, but Bea's been coerced into the role to cover her debt. Okay story - wrong narrator
Revisado: 04-02-20
The narrator spoke took slowly and nearly every sentence sounded like she was asking a question. atowards the later half, she was better. But in the end, she went back to her mono-toned full speech. Her voice is nice, just no inflections. I may have given the story a better rating if it was read more enthusiastically. As for the story, there are two many coincidences to be believable. I did enjoy the story even if my rating doesn't reflect it. I love a happy ending. Slight spoiler: wish the ex boyfriend had a come uppance scene. He deserved some karma.
