A Beautiful Dedication To a Beautiful Person

I really appreciate that Steve Roberts narrated his own biographical account of his wife. It added depth and emotion that all too often is lacking in a third person narrative. I like the way the biography was divided into sections that defined who Cokie was to everyone and to herself.

I must say that the listener would be well-advised to pay close attention in the narration. Why? It is easy to get confused as to when Steve is quoting someone OR when he is speaking for himself. Overall, the book was so heart-warming and inspiring, so nice, that I listened twice.

I enjoyed the narrator's smooth efforts in differentiating her voices to accommodate the many different characters in the story. I gave the story 3 stars out of 5 because the plot began very strongly. However, towards the middle and maybe two chapters before the end of the story, the plot became confusing. I had to rewind many times to try understand the twists, turns, keeping up with new characters and dead characters, and their involvement in the plot.

Superb character development and heightened drama! I enjoy the characters from the previous stories being infused into the current story. I always look forward to the next part of the series.

Interesting read. Some anecdotes were downright so interesting that I had to read some sections twice. However there are several inaccuracies. 1. Rose Kennedy outlived 4 children, not 3. RFK, Jr was 14 when he lost his father, not 10. Ted Kennedy could not have attended Mary Richardson's funeral, which took place in 2012. Ted had passed 3 years prior. Some information on JFK, Jr. matched the information in the oral history book about him by Rosemary Terenzia. Perhaps some thoughtful editing would have tightened up the factual errors, as well as the organization of the anecdotals.

The author uses the plot to develop her characters and show the evolution of the characters' relationships. There are gaps in the epilogue with how one of the characters came into his own, but, not wanting to be a spoiler, I'll let the readers figure out the gaps themselves. Hopefully, the story which succeeds this one, fills in those gaps. The reader does an admirable job switching from a Scottish to an English accent.

I am so in love with this series of books. The characters from the story prior make their way into the succeeding stories. The development of the main characters' relationships make the story, coupled with the superb narration, make for an engaging novel. I have listened to this particular novel three times. I definitely have my favorite scenes.

I love the idea of an oral history about JFK, Jr. The breadth of people who knew John throughout his short life from different points/stages of his life created a full picture of the man.

This oral history made me quite emotional, but for the first time, I got a complete picture of someone who was more than just a little boy who saluted his father's casket. He was more than just the president's son. He was a whole person. I highly recommend this read.

The author, once again, does a great job developing complex characters and complex relationships by weaving in colorful details. The reader is very easy on the ears. I was so impressed with the first book of this series, that I immediately went straight to book 2.

This story takes us on a winding journey through the character development of two insecure souls. From beginning to end, the twists and turns of listening to these two characters develop can leave us frustrated, yet wanting more.
The author is a great tease, which makes this book engaging enough for the readers to want to read to the end. If you love romance, give this book a chance. It takes a while to bring the story to a landing, but the plot is masterfully written.

I appreciate Lawrence O'Donnell narrating his own book, lending voice to all of his thorough research. O'Donnell crafts the accounts into a type of sandwich. Pre-1968 events on top. This leads to the center of the historical narrative in a detailed account of the turbulent 1968 election season. Finally, rounded out on the end with the after effects of 1968 on the future of Democracy in our country.
