Until now. The countdown to the next stage of human evolution is about to begin, and humanity might not survive this time. The Immari are good at keeping secrets. Suspensefull but stressful
Revisado: 06-10-18
This is one of the those books that's all about suspense, there is never a break from it. One thing after another, non stop. You start wondering if these characters ever have time in their lives for even minimal personal hygiene. After awhile it stops being interesting and starts being stressful. And then goes to ridiculous. This is book one of... who knows... infinity???? It was okay but I'll stop with one with this series. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't memorable either. On the plus side, that narrator, Stephen Bel Davies was excellent. Has good cadence and an easy voice to listen too.

Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

Fun futuristsic sci-fi
Revisado: 06-10-18
One of Stephenson's earlier novels. Great, fun, fast. A great listen. Characters are interesting, relationships between them is get a bit dubious but it's all fun in the metaverse and reality.

Historia
Claude Shannon was a tinkerer, a playful wunderkind, a groundbreaking polymath, and a digital pioneer whose insights made the Information Age possible. He constructed fire-breathing trumpets and customized unicycles, outfoxed Vegas casinos, and built juggling robots, but he also wrote the seminal text of the Digital Revolution. That work allowed scientists to measure and manipulate information as objectively as any physical object. His work gave mathematicians and engineers the tools to bring that world to pass.

Great book about a visionary and doer
Revisado: 05-01-18
I knew nothing about Claude Shannon before I'd listened to this book. What an amazing person. His theories and discoveries touch the lives of everyone alive today. And in spite of his incredible mind and achievements, he was just a regular person.
Great book, especially for us non mathematicians. Highly recommend.

Historia
Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

Historia
Darrell Huff's celebrated classic How to Lie With Statistics is a straightforward and engaging guide to understanding the manipulation and misrepresentation of information that could be lurking behind every graph, chart, and infographic. Originally published in 1954, it remains as relevant and necessary as ever in our digital world, where information is king - and as easy to distort and manipulate as it is to access.

Short, sweet and to the point. Great basic book to not only understand what statistics are, but how they apply and can be cherry picked to tell a biased story. I highly recommend this as a read and a listen.
