Historia
Society, by statistical necessity, needs to focus on the majority. It needs to be built and designed for "the average". Society, by moral necessity, also needs to focus on the disadvantaged and disabled, helping those who cannot help themselves. But while the majority of society's resources, attention, and infrastructure is dedicated to average or below-average people, little-to-none of it is dedicated to the abnormally intelligent.

if you're offended by this book, it wasn't for you
Revisado: 10-29-18
listening to this book was like having theatre seats to my own mind mixed with straight forward ideas on how to overcome the challenges of dealing with people who, are genuinely nice, but still can't operate on a higher level. It also helps me appreciate my mental superiors and the patience they have shown.

Historia
Unchained from fate, the Norse gods Loki and Hel are ready to unleash Ragnarok, a.k.a. the Apocalypse, upon the earth. They’ve made allies on the darker side of many pantheons, and there’s a globe-spanning battle brewing that ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan will be hardpressed to survive, much less win.

Historia
Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they've done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces. So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

The story is finally finding it's path
Revisado: 05-17-17
Where does Fight and Flight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Fight and Flight is the best in the series so far. It's not in my top ten list but the genre isn't what I normally listen to.
Any additional comments?
The first book was a great start to the series with a new concept. The second book seemed like Scott Meyer wasn't sure where to take the series when I listened to it. The Third book was tiring at points but laid a stronger foundation for the world he created.
Now the group of characters is better developed and more consistent. This book actually had a story behind it beyond "more of the same" and developed a few twists that were unexpected. The realism in the manner of NPCs and the complications they create are almost better than the character development in this book. If you got bored with books 2 or 3, go back and finish them then get this book, you will pleasantly surprised.

Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

This one was hard for me to continue. It seemed like a bit more of the same as book two and got a bit stale for me. However, after listening to the fourth book, I'm glad I didn't give up on the series.

Revisado: 05-17-17
What did you love best about Off to Be the Wizard?
It was based on a concept that I hadn't heard of yet. The geeky and uncomfortable situations are amusing.
Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to Luke Daniels in many other audiobooks before and will usually give an unknown book more attention if he is the narrator.

Historia
The ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan gets more than greasy corn dogs and flat soda when he visits a carnival in Kansas to which his apprentice, Granuaile, drags him. He runs across a barker with a strange power over the crowd: attractive women leave their men and disappear into an unmarked tent, never to be seen again, and the men wander away, forgetting that they ever had girlfriends or wives. When Granuaile falls under the barker’s influence and enters the tent, Atticus isn’t about to forget it and move on.

A good short story
Revisado: 04-24-17
What did you love best about Carniepunk: The Demon Barker of Wheat Street?
This is a good short read. It sets up and moves quickly.
What did you like best about this story?
It's an Iron Druid story.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration is my only complaint about this. The person reading sounds more like my GPS navigation system than someone trying to read a story with multiple characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I did listen in one sitting.

In John Scalzi's best-selling Old Man's War series of science-fiction novels, we see this warrior woman as the other characters see her - silent and strong, from the outside. But now The Sagan Diary shows us Sagan from another point of view: her own, as she prepares to leave military life and join her new husband and adopted daughter on a colony world.

Can't get enough of the Iron Druid Series
Revisado: 03-01-16
Where does Staked rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This entire series is one of my favorites. I've been reading this genre since I was a kid. Forgotten Realms is the other contender. Forgotten Realms has a bit more going on in it's series but Iron Druid isn't nearly as preachy and altruistic as some of the Drizzt books.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Granuaile is my favorite so far. Yes, Granuaile. I know Atticus is the main character but the development of Granuaile has better potential for future books since she is still evolving. Atticus is a great character but he's too damn lucky to be believed sometimes. He'd be luckier if he'd learn to keep his mouth shut but then we wouldn't have a story line would we?
What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Luke Daniels is one of my favorite narrators. I was surprised to see he was the same narrator from other books because of his range of character voices. He makes it easier to understand that the focus from one character has shifted to another. I found myself wondering if I would have been able to keep up if I read it on hard copy.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not one particular moment, but I did find myself laughing out loud and looking like a fool in traffic a few times.
Any additional comments?
The first Iron Druid book took me about a week to listen to. By the Fifth book, I was reading them in a day.
