Good, beautiful, and true.
Revisado: 11-13-24
Sarah wrestles with the difficulty of quiet in a noisy word with prose that is both lovely and deeply moving. She does not offer platitudes, but gently redirects our gaze to the One who is ever present and speaks with a gentle whisper to His children. I will be reading this book over and over.

Historia
Born White in the heart of Zululand during the racial apartheid, Lisa-Jo Baker longed to write a new future for her children—a longing that set her on a journey to understand where she fit into a story of violence and faith, history and race. Before marriage and motherhood, she came to the United States to study to become a human rights advocate. When she naïvely walked right into America’s own turbulent racial landscape, Baker experienced the kind of painful awakening that is both individual and universal, personal and social.

One of the most beautiful books ever
Revisado: 06-12-24
Lisa Jo Baker is a true storyteller. This book was beautifully painful, glorious with redemption, and hard-core real. As a daughter of an angry father who sadly repeated his mistakes until the Lord showed me how to do better, I listened to this book with attuned ears and am so grateful for her courage in telling their story. If I could give this book ten stars I would!

The Trinity is supposed to be the central doctrine grounding Christianity, yet we're often told that we shouldn't attempt to understand it because it's a mystery. But what if we breached that mystery? How might it transform our relationship with God?

A little sketchy in places
Revisado: 02-28-24
There are a lot of good nuggets of truth contained in this book, and I’m glad I listened to it over all, but if you do not have a solid grasp of scripture for yourself it would be easy to see this as a springboard into a long New Age practices that are unhealthy at best. It’s definitely a “chew and spit” book…chew the meat and spit out the bones.

This book was what my soul needed. Solid, Biblical teaching along with relevant life stories, I’ll be revisiting it over and over on my own prayer journey.

Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

I had heard good things about this book, but it is just so long. I got lost in the details and simply couldn’t finish it.

Historia
Nehemiah, the young son of a Jewish woman, a weaver from Jerusalem, is born and raised among the Jews who didn't return to Jerusalem from the Exile. Educated by Rabbi Kagba, one of the magi present at Jesus' birth thirty years earlier, Nehemiah grows up with the expectation of a soon-coming Messiah. Could the Yeshua of Nazareth, who is walking the earth, reportedly doing miracles, be that Messiah? When young Nehemiah must travel the long caravan road to Jerusalem, he is charged with an unusual mission...

Sleepy
Revisado: 12-19-16
The story itself is very good, a fictional account of a very real event that has great meaning to me as a Christian. The narrator just sounds so bored as he reads that I had a hard time engaging.
