Historia
Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Best friends
Revisado: 04-15-24
Sam and Sadie are destined to be best friends who can never marry each other. They are game designers who own a company together. The tension between them is palpable, but like two trains on the same track, their paths will never separate. A fascinating story well narrated. I can recommend it if you're looking for a modern story to hold your interest.

Historia
Children have always disappeared under the right conditions - slipping through the shadows under a bed or at the back of a wardrobe, tumbling down rabbit holes and into old wells, and emerging somewhere...else. But magical lands have little need for used-up miracle children. Nancy tumbled once, but now she's back. The things she's experienced...they change a person. The children under Miss West's care understand all too well. And each of them is seeking a way back to their own fantasy world.

Captivating story of youngsters seeking acceptance
Revisado: 02-10-22
A fascinating story about a girl's struggle to find herself in the company of others that didn't fit in their childhood homes and entered fantasy worlds suitable to their natures. The narration is smooth and the story moves at a reasonable pace. The characterization is distinctive and well developed.

Historia
The transition from President Donald J. Trump to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. stands as one of the most dangerous periods in American history. But as number one internationally best-selling author Bob Woodward and acclaimed reporter Robert Costa reveal for the first time, it was far more than just a domestic political crisis. Woodward and Costa interviewed more than 200 people at the center of the turmoil, resulting in more than 6,000 pages of transcripts - and a spellbinding and definitive portrait of a nation on the brink.

Messing with Spirits
Revisado: 04-15-19
An enjoyable story about a ghost-busting woman who finds herself caught between two competing interests who have different ideas in mind concerning the disposition of a haunted airfield. Well narrated by Bahni Turpin who gives the main character the right amount of flippancy.

Narrative Story Telling
Revisado: 04-15-19
A well-told story of twin sisters engaged in a family coverup that entangles a female journalist, herself the sole survivor of twins, into an ever deepening mystery involving a successful author--the remaining member of a prominent English family whose estate has been allowed slowly to decay. The narration by Bianca Amato and Jill Tanner is excellent as they keep the voices and delivery of the author and the journalist distinct and in character.

In the chaotic aftermath of World War II, American college girl Charlie St. Clair is pregnant, unmarried, and on the verge of being thrown out of her very proper family. Realistic Spy Novel
Revisado: 03-21-18
First, let me say that Saskia Maarleveld does an excellent job differentiating the characters. Kate Quinn's writing is superb. The story involves a group of women spies in WWI who infiltrate the French populace and obtain information about the German activities for the British military. Each of them must be familiar with all three languages and cultures, sometimes hiding their abilities to avoid detection. Quinn tracks two time periods, 1915-19 during WWI and 1945-47 after the end of WWII. The book maintains a good level of suspense, although some of the scenes extend a little long and the plot arc is somewhat predictable. The characters are interesting and correlate well to my own observations of veterans from WWII and more recent wars. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys undercover intrigue.

Historia
Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Foxes and Hounds in Time Chase
Revisado: 03-04-18
Peter Cline is one of my favorite authors. In this story, a man and a woman join together to chase an elusive dream through various periods of American history. They are hounded by tenacious agents who defend this stolen or lost dream against all who seek it--killing them at will. Our heroes have some great adventures, narrowly escaping from one life-threatening circumstance to another. Ray Porter gives a good performance as the narrator.

Historia
Roger Ferris is one of the CIA's soldiers in the war on terrorism. He has come out of Iraq with a shattered leg and an intense mission: to penetrate the network of a master terrorist known only as "Suleiman". Ferris' plan for getting inside Suleiman's tent is inspired by a masterpiece of British intelligence during World War II: he prepares a body of lies, literally the corpse of an imaginary CIA officer who appears to have accomplished the impossible by recruiting an agent within the enemy's ranks.

Personal Life of a Spy
Revisado: 02-02-18
Overlaying a plot to flush an al-Qaeda leader are the personal difficulties of CIA operative Roger Ferris. Lacking the discipline one expects of an undercover agent, Ferris blunders his way through an unsuccessful marriage, a divorce, and a love affair. The action scenes are sufficiently carried out, but there is no indication that Ferris is much more than a teen-ager in a man's body throughout the story, including the end.
