Historia
He started the fire. Nate Shepherd's client didn't intend to kill anyone. That doesn't matter. After an old friend recruits him, Nate Shepherd heads north to defend a teenager charged with igniting a blaze that killed a toddler and a firefighter. When he arrives, Nate finds a neglected case and a looming trial date for double murder. As he scrambles to discover what happened, Nate is resisted by a stonewalling prosecutor and a grieving town, each bent on punishing his client. Worse, every fact Nate uncovers confirms that his client started the tragic Mission Road fire.

love the narrator. Was surprised several times when I had 'figured it out'. Characters that reflected small town loyalties. thanks for a great listen.

Wasn't to sure about this. After reading the reviews ..took a shot. Narration, characters, story, emotions, evolutionary tidbits and just plain making fun of everything. Took me a minute to get into the 'bizarre, realistic and maybe probable development of the story line. I mean 'Who the hell knows', right? Will do another review or add to this one later.

innovative, science, believeable
Revisado: 09-11-24
A story that was steeped in believeable science. If this hasn not appened yet it will soon. Did figure out the main event about half way through. It was fun seeing how they arrived there. I feel like I know the characters and could share a cuppa with them. A definite peek a inside the insanity of the human mindset. Ego, power, excuses and ridiculous reasons for doing something against the natural order of life.

Almost Bailed on this a few times!
Revisado: 06-30-24
The scientific premise of the story kept me coming back. The story led into unexplored territory. Enjoyed the twists and turns for the most part, although, they did drag on and on.
The thought that most tormented me is as follows: 'Please have the potential parents of designer children take an IQ and EQ 'test' prior to being a candidate'. Naomi and John did not impress this reader/listener of having a lot of marbles rolling around. Naomi came across as unstable, incessantly asking stupid (yes I said it) questions to which there were clearly no answers. I wanted to reach inside the audio and ask her to just shut up. So after all that happy that I hung in there for the story.

After springing Corrie from jail, Pendergast learns she made a discovery while examining the bones of several miners who were killed 150 years earlier by a rogue grizzly bear.

The only thing they had in common was the law, until they faced each other in the steamiest murder trial of the century, a case that would make sparks fly, headlines scream, and opposites attract. Surrounded by crooks, con men, and a cast of colorful characters, Steve Solomon and Vickie Lord must solve the crime before they end up in ruin, in jail, or, worse, in bed.

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 12-01-23
Not knowing what to expect and never having read/listened to a Paul Levine publication, I was pleasantly surprised. The dark bantering humor and musical references added to the 'stories' with the story. Will definetly continue to the series. The characters shifted as they grew within the storyline. Love that 'Bobby'.

Revisado: 09-23-23
Enjoyed the balance of human drama, galaxy intrigue and science. Did not see this particular ending coming, Story developed that led to the conclusion - which hopefully sets up a sequel. Great narration and story. A shift from Pendergast. Would enjoy the sequel.

Don't even know what to say here! Still reeling.
Revisado: 05-15-23
Dance of Death was by far the most mysterious story as it unfolded. Agent Pendergast and Diogenes, with a growing case of characters drawn from previous mysteries, continue to weave tales of darkness and light. Doubt woven into the story kept me guessing. Wondering if I had missed something and then feeling 'horrified' that it might be true. How could I have been that wrong? Sad for it to end although a window into future adventures was presented. Be prepared to remember previous adventures with familiar characters and meet the newly introduced. Always the improbable. Fantastical imaginations that manage to manifest into reality.

NSA - Scary on many levels
Revisado: 03-13-23
Overall fast paced, lots of characters, international intrigue and hopefully fictional dynamics. Found the lead Susan frustratingly unimaginative. A supposed wiz kid in her field, her responses included 'impossible, not possible, can't be done'. All of which proved to be not impossible and could be done.
There is hope that the real NSA operates with less drama and more professional than the shaky cast of somewhat disturbed personnel. All that being said I enjoyed being frustrated with Susan. Hung in there til the end.
