Historia
September 8, 1900, began innocently in the seaside town of Galveston, Texas. Even Isaac Cline, resident meteorologist for the U.S. Weather Bureau, failed to grasp the true meaning of the strange deep-sea swells and peculiar winds that greeted the city that morning. Mere hours later, Galveston found itself submerged in a monster hurricane that completely destroyed the town and killed over 6,000 people in what remains the greatest natural disaster in American history.

An immersive experience
Revisado: 04-22-21
The story is so impactful in itself but the telling of it the way Eric Larssen tells it through the magnificent voice of the late Edward Hermann makes it as if you are experiencing the events in person.

Newly minted chief resident at Boston Memorial Hospital Noah Rothauser is swamped in his new position, from managing the surgical schedules to dealing with the fallouts from patient deaths. Known for its medical advances, the famed teaching hospital has fitted several ORs as "hybrid operating rooms of the future" - an improvement that seems positive until an anesthesia error during a routine procedure results in the death of an otherwise healthy man.

just ok
Revisado: 09-25-19
I had a hard time trying to listen to the narrator. For an experienced and award winning narrator, it was shockingly bad. He also mispronounced several words. Disappointing story with such potential.

Good story
Revisado: 04-25-18
sometimes hard to keep track of the storyline. Otherwise it was a good story with interesting characters. It would have been good to get more detail on the parent's relationship and Althea's past. Some parts were a bit slow but it was overall a good book.

A wild adventure that keeps you hooked
Revisado: 04-03-18
I spend a lot of time on the road and enjoy listening to stories of adventure and human perseverance. Stories that take you places where you might not ever go in real life. So, when I read the premise of The River at Night, I was already hooked.
From the beginning, I found myself relating to these women, the four friends who were so different from each other. The author made me care about each of them, even understanding their flaws, which made them even more relatable.
There were parts that were thrilling, heartbreaking and terrifying. I found myself having to accept some suspension of reality during a few scenes but the story was worth the effort.
Possibly the best part was the narrator. Joy Osmanski was amazing! Her narration made the story come alive.
I find myself now looking forward to the other books written by Erica Ferencik as well as those read by Ms. Osmanski.

Great road trip book!
Revisado: 01-02-18
It was very engrossing. I listened while on a long road trip and it kept me riveted. only negative was the constant character jumping from one POV to another. Very short chapters, which contributed to the choppy character flow. otherwise, I enjoyed it.
