Historia
Nothing could be more out of character, but after fifty-nine years of marriage, as her husband Bernard’s health declines, and her friends' lives become focused on their grandchildren—which Jenny never had—Jenny decides she wants a little something for herself. So she secretly applies to be a contestant on the prime-time TV show Britain Bakes. Whisked into an unfamiliar world of cameras and timed challenges, Jenny delights in a new-found independence. But that independence, and the stress of the competition, starts to unearth memories buried decades ago.

Lovely characters and descriptions
Revisado: 08-20-24
Loved relationships. Especially of Bernard and Jenny
Such a picture of unconditional love and supporting each other through all of life. Such a contrast between their relationship and the one a naive young girl and a complete cad.
An understanding of the trials of the time, mostly of young women dealing with a child born out of wedlock.
Jenny’s courage and selflessness is so refreshing and begat more of the same in others. Her perspective on family recipes…seeing them as history and a continuing of relationships with those gone by is lovely.
The reader made all more enjoyable.

Historia
As Wodehouse himself once noted, "Blandings has impostors like other houses have mice." On this particular occasion, there are two imposters, both intent on a dangerous enterprise. Lord Emsworth's secretary, the Efficient Baxter, is on the alert and determined to discover what is afoot - despite the distractions caused by the Honorable Freddie Threepwood's hapless affair of the heart.

Informative and engaging
Revisado: 05-09-24
The various storylines allowed you to see the civil war from various vantage points and so become familiar with both armies. The narrator was terrific, creating each individual. Starting each chapter with place and date enabled you to track the action. Grew to love or hate individuals so well portrayed was each. Learning about the strategy and communication occurred was interesting. The carrying on of the battle after the supposed conclusion of the war was news to me. Such horrendous acts we commit against our fellow man.
