Historia
The world of magick and the world of man have long been estranged from one another. But some can walk between the two—including Breen Siobhan Kelly. She has just returned to Talamh, with her friend, Marco, who’s dazzled and disoriented by this realm—a place filled with dragons and faeries and mermaids (but no WiFi, to his chagrin). In Talamh, Breen is not the ordinary young schoolteacher he knew her as. Here she is learning to embrace the powers of her true identity. Marco is welcomed kindly by her people—and by Keegan, leader of the Fey.

Cozy but adventurous
Revisado: 03-18-25
I loved it, I'm downloading the next one as we speak. I will say, however, if you prefer Nora Roberts romance books, this one may not be for you. The romantic part is just a shadow in the background to an adventure story.

Woof. Awful.
Revisado: 08-23-24
The writing is lousy and immature; it's something an angsty 14 year old would write. Wavering from profoundly self absorbed pretentiousness to ridiculous, daydream-like scenarios that are laughably childish, it's irritating in a pitiable kind of way. The halting, bizarre performance is distracting and the voice of the Victorian girl is comically bad. I truly haven't got a clue how anyone could get through this one.

Great story, lousy narration
Revisado: 07-10-24
The story itself is really good, keeps you guessing until the end. The narrators, on the other hand, were bizarre at best. The woman narrator's voices for men literally made me laugh out loud. The man narrator spoke as if he was an alien who had never heard a human speak before; odd, halting rhythm with inflections at seemingly random intervals. I almost quit after the first few chapters, but the story is so good, I stuck it out.

Great stories
Revisado: 06-15-22
My son and I enjoyed the stories and trying to guess the outcome. The narrator's voice was grating though, and made a 9 year old character sound like a toddler. The accents were bizarre and inconsistent. But, not bad enough to stop listening.

Historia
Germany, 1660: When a dying boy is pulled from the river with a mark crudely tattooed on his shoulder, hangman Jakob Kuisl is called upon to investigate whether witchcraft is at play in his small Bavarian town. Whispers and dark memories of witch trials and the women burned at the stake just seventy years earlier still haunt the streets of Schongau.

Fantastic book
Revisado: 08-08-18
This book is exceptionally long, but I wouldn't cut any part of it out. It is gruesome and macabre but not in a artificial, gory for the sake of gory way. It is just what life was back then: horrible. I was satisfied with the ending, and I wish there were sequels. The narration is perfect.

Overall good, will read her again
Revisado: 08-08-18
Reading the synopsis gives you a sense that this book will be a bit more thrilling than it actually is. But, as long as you don't go into it with that assumption, it's a great book. It lagged a bit for me in the middle, but I always seemed to be looking forward to listening to it. Obviously the narration was perfect, since it is the author herself. The book does evoke some strong emotion, I found myself so upset with the main character that I had to shut it off and yell obscenities at her. I've recommended it to everyone and will be reading everything this author has.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

One of the best novels I've ever read
Revisado: 08-08-18
I really do believe this will go down as a classic as the years tick on. At first, I was so upset by the ending I felt sick. But, after I stepped away from my own emotional reaction, I realized it was the perfect Shakespearean ending. There is no predicting anything, and I really appreciate that fact. Narration is perfect, I will be reading everything this author has.

Gets a bit too dark
Revisado: 08-08-18
Overall, I liked the book, it's written well and it's different from the majority of other books in this genre. It does, however, gets too dark for me. Close to the end, it just made me feel sick and horrible. Also, I was not a fan of the male narrator. The female narrator did amazing. Still, I would recommend this book as long as you have a tough skin.
