Great Storyline
Revisado: 07-14-24
I love this book, it’s another great installment of the series and it did not disappoint. Kay does not add a lot of fluff to extend the story uneccessarily.

Tiresome
Revisado: 09-29-23
Only quarter of the way through the book but getting really tired of the story line. I know it is trying to be action packed but it is the same thing over and over. Constant fighting and people dying and impossible situations. I was hoping for something more cerebral, different, and with human ingenuity, but it’s just depressing trope.

Historia
From Joshua Dalzelle comes the follow-up to the number-one best seller Warship. Captain Jackson Wolfe survived the initial incursion of a vicious alien species into human space...barely. He had assumed the juggernaut that had devastated three Terran systems was the herald for a full invasion, but for the last few years it has been eerily quiet along the Frontier. Jackson now struggles to convince the Confederate leadership the threat is still imminent and needs to be taken seriously.

This book was way better than the first one. I loved all the plot twists and that the entire book wasn’t just focused on fighting the aliens. 👍🏾

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Historia
In The Unicorn Project, we follow Maxine, a senior lead developer and architect, as she is exiled to the Phoenix Project, to the horror of her friends and colleagues, as punishment for contributing to a payroll outage. She tries to survive in what feels like a heartless and uncaring bureaucracy and to work within a system where no one can get anything done without endless committees, paperwork, and approvals. One day, she is approached by a ragtag bunch of misfits who say they want to overthrow the existing order, to liberate developers, to bring joy back to technology work.

Cheesy and a tough read!
Revisado: 03-30-23
I really wanted to like this book, but it took a lot to stay engaged.
I loved the Phoenix Project only because it was slightly more believable. This book was a bit over the top and some of the timelines were a bit skewed. Basically in this book rogue employees saved the company Bill was an after thought.
The author was terrible, but now I have to find out which programming language SEQUEL is, it must be new. :-)

I am always quick to put in a review when it is negative, not so much for the positive. I listened to this podcast several times when it was in its infancy. As a business resilience professional that has done wide-ranging work in the risk space, I have used the podcast as my Resilience (Business/Cyber) Desktop Reference Guide. As I look to pivot into a vCISO role, I am back again to consume more of this great content.

Good Read - walk down memory lane
Revisado: 09-15-16
I really enjoyed this book, a times it got confusing based on the characters narration. I lived in Jamaica and Brooklyn during the majority of the events in the book. Although a work of mostly fiction it was based on true events and answered some questions while leaving me with others. Did not like the end it left me wanting more.

Diary of a mass shooter😩
Revisado: 12-31-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I cannot recommend this book to it for anyone. It reads like the diary of a mass shooter, a person snubbed in high school and blames the world.
What could Russell Lee have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I could have done without the many negative connotations.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Troy Otte?
I have no clue
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None, I was so shocked by the many negative things I must have missed the message. Teachers are not responsible to find out why a child is quite in school. I was totally confused.
Any additional comments?
I need a refund. How can I get one?

Historia
Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross created her classic seminal work, On Death and Dying, to offer us a new perspective on the terminally ill. It is not a psychoanalytic study, nor is it a "how-to" manual for managing death. Rather, it refocuses on the patient as a human being and a teacher, in the hope that we will learn from him or her about the final stages of life.

Thought provoking read
Revisado: 10-28-15
This book is very interesting, it attempts to give us insight into the world of the terminally ill and dying person.
The overarching point to me is that the dying.needs to be treated with respect, respect for their feelings and their wishes. We tend to think of ourselves during times like these and think we are being selfless when in reality we are being selfish when we tell them to fight or do things for them or to them without asking for their input.
