Another Winner From Kate Quinn
Revisado: 04-02-21
I enjoyed everything about this book; it had just enough mystery and romance, intrigue and friendship to never be dull or dragging. No spoilers, but I was able to guess the plot twist well ahead of the reveal but it did not ruin the story. On the contrary, it made me more engaged in it. The narrator was excellent and does a great job of creating distinguishing voices for each character. I already can't wait for the next one by Quinn!

Excellent Narrator - Weird Ending
Revisado: 03-22-21
I would have given this story 5 stars if there wasn't a very weird and, in my opinion, unnecessary twist at the end. The narrator's performance was spot on - gave me goosebumps a few times - and the plot and overall story were excellent. Perhaps there will be a sequel to explain why the unnecessary weirdness happens at the end but, in this story it had little place.

Historia
Inspector Treadles, Charlotte Holmes’ friend and collaborator, has been found locked in a room with two dead men, both of whom worked with his wife at the great manufacturing enterprise she has recently inherited. Rumors fly. Had Inspector Treadles killed the men because they had opposed his wife’s initiatives at every turn? Had he killed in a fit of jealous rage because he suspected Mrs. Treadles of harboring deeper feelings for one of the men? To make matters worse, he refuses to speak on his own behalf, despite the overwhelming evidence against him.

Great Series! Awesome Performance!
Revisado: 02-05-21
I have loved every one of Sherry Thomas' Lady Sherlock books and this one was no exception. From the beginning, I was engrossed in the details of the "Who-Dun-It" flow of the story. Kate Reading is also a great narrator to the point that I forget sometimes that she is the same voice for all the characters. Looking forward to more Lady Sherlock in the future!

Historia
Acclaimed novelist Quan Barry delivers a tour de female force in this delightful novel. Set in the coastal town of Danvers, Massachusetts, where the accusations began that led to the 1692 witch trials, We Ride Upon Sticks follows the 1989 Danvers High School Falcons field hockey team, who will do anything to make it to the state finals—even if it means tapping into some devilishly dark powers. In chapters dense with 1980s iconography—from Heathers to "big hair"—Barry expertly weaves together the individual and collective progress of this enchanted team.

The Narrator is Awful!
Revisado: 02-05-21
I really wanted to like this book; however, the story is slow and, at times, choppy on what is actually happening. Add to that the horrible reading ability of the narrator and it just about became unbearable. I stuck with it because I kept waiting for it to get better or for there to be a reason for the poor narration - but alas - that is not the case.
