Good religious periodic story.

Good religious periodic story. Interesting seeing the portrayal of 1200’s-1300’s from the 1920’s perspective.

Even Better than the Incredible Movie
Revisado: 01-01-25
Kiki’s Delivery Service was a joy to listen to. The book was even better than the beloved movie, which was incredible as well. The characters and their depth were more intriguing and I enjoyed the stories of Kiki very much.

Lovely continuation of the Anne of Green Gables series
Revisado: 12-31-24
Lovely continuation of the Anne of Green Gables series. You can tell LM Montgomery wrote this book later in her life, with the references to war (no more war/that doesn’t happen anymore) and mentions of the future. [LM Montgomery died during WWII, depressed and no longer writing in her journal]

More fun in Murderbot’s sometimes-hilarious/sometimes dire adventures
Revisado: 12-29-24
Network Effect continues, as usual, the sometimes-hilarious/sometimes dire adventures from the perspective of the socially awkward Murderbot. This one with the return of ART; and some members from Dr. Mensah’s team. Though longer than the other Murderbot Diaries books, Network Effect was just as fun! Definitely a must-read in the series!

Historia
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

A Heian-era mansion stands abandoned, its foundations resting on the bones of a bride and its walls packed with the remains of the girls sacrificed to keep her company. It’s the perfect venue for a group of thrill-seeking friends, brought back together to celebrate a wedding. A night of food, drinks, and games quickly spirals into a nightmare as secrets get dragged out and relationships are tested. But the house has secrets too. Lurking in the shadows is the ghost bride with a black smile and a hungry heart.

Dark and descriptive
Revisado: 12-27-24
Nothing But Blackened Teeth was a good ghost story. Plenty creepy.
Cassandra Khaw’s descriptions of the house and its haunting were off-the-charts good!
The amount of teenaged-level angst in a bunch of 24-year-olds was kind of distracting, though. The main protagonist was insufferable 80% of the time to the friends who’d had her back, especially when she got in a bad mood and nothing they could say or do could placate her. They want to have her back, but her “ennui” led her to push them away rather rudely many times.
Also, the ending (last chapter, before the epilogue) was a bit unclear as to what happened with the ghost. And what the ghost’s motives were.
But I lined the moving walls; the living, breathing house; and the yokai and living walls as well.
