I’ll make this short and sweet. The story is good and the narration was excellent. There’s nothing to complain about there. However, the book leads you to believe that this is an ancient story or text when in fact it appears to be a modern revision of old text, possibly done to make it more appealing or understandable with our current understanding of technology. I have no idea how the original story reads but as it stands it’s easy to see how anyone can interpret this to be a science fiction novel when it may be the creative interpretation of an actual ancient story. I surely don’t know but the epilogue leads you into presuming these were actual events and the actions of these “ancient gods” who made earth their home many thousands of years ago continued to have consequences on mankind’s history onward for many millennia.

Regardless of what your personal take is regarding the authenticity of the source or it’s accuracy of interpretation, this was an entertaining read. If you are even remotely interested in the Ancient Aliens theory or something similar, you may enjoy this story .

This was a very insightful and interesting read. Regardless of which side of the political isle you sit on, this is essentially one man's view of history (a Secret Service Officer) as he lived though it and how it personally affected him and those around him. The writer takes you back in time and shares his experiences during his career, particularly in the white house, in an effort to make you aware of what took place during the Clinton presidency. His point is to make you think and decide whether you really want our country to head back to those days.

The narrator was excellent, to the point i thought it was actually the writer who was reading it. Nicely done.

I recommend this book. It is particularly relevant during this 2016 election cycle.

This isn't a book that focuses on making Islam sound bad or negative but rather uses historical, geographic, demographic, or ideological facts and provides points and counterpoint in each topic to illustrate what is going on. The author made many references to the difference between Islam and Christianity which really are striking. No matter what many in the media would have you believe, the differences between the two are like night and day.

The author points out that while Muslims are in the minority they will live in a sort of acceptance of others in that society but as soon as they grow in number, or in the majority, life as in western (or other) society will bound to be subjugated to their rules and with little acceptance. This seems correct in light of all that's currently happening in the world. The author warns that war and violence in the name of Islam is bound to continue and increase so be prepared.

Some of the information is now a little dated but not less important. Overall, it is an enlightening read, particularly for those who know little or nothing on the subject matter.

most Christians know little to nothing about Mormons. As the title indicates this book was relatively quick and informative. The author provided the information and advice in a very kind and gentle way towards Mormons and their views/beliefs of Christianism. I definitely know more now than I did prior to listening to this book.

This story is a testament to the faith and the strength of character of these two brave young women. They placed their full trust in Christ and were placed on a road to spread his word, even if unwittingly, in a harsh environment (both physically within a tough prison and legally/politically from a repressive govt) while seemingly being protected by "unknown" forces throughout their ordeal. This story illustrates how powerful faith and prayer can be. It also shows that while the government of Iran may be radical Islamic based, its people, in general, are apparently not. I can only assume this is probably based on their rich Persian history and culture.

I am amazed at how much detail these two special women were able to recall and share. The narration was very good. It was clear and easy to follow. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone interested in Christian faith, Iran, life inside a foreign woman's prison, women and Islam, the Iranian judicial system and Sharia law, and the personal account of two women who lived through all this.

This book is a must read for any avid historian or anyone interested in World War II, the Palestinian-Jewish conflict, the Holocaust, or even current world events. While I thought I knew my fair share about WWII, this book opened my eyes. There were many things I did not know about regarding the level of corroboration and collusion between the Arab nations and Hitler, and to the extent it went. For example, I had no idea that there were actually Arab SS units that were literally under Hitler's command (through the Mufti). I am sure that most people are unaware of this historical information. This is something the media nor publishers discuss or even mention.

There are so many details in this book that are not common knowledge to the general public yet everyone should be aware of. I won't get into anything further but it is suffice to say that many of the things occurring around the world today are as a result of the actions that took place during the first half of the 20th century, with the Mufti playing an important role. It will ultimately make sense to you the listener once you "read" (ok, hear) this book.

To say the least, this was a very interesting and informative "read" plus it was easy to follow. I highly recommend it.

It is a honest perspective of one man's life. Not a romantic view of a hero's life but an actual view of a soldier's thoughts about war. faith, love of country, and the personal conflict between those feelings and love for his family. I liked the book and it is an honor to know we have men like Kyle serve our country.

This book had a lot of historical information and interesting facts that I was unaware of regarding Patton (and other military and political figures of the time). I enjoyed the book and the narration as a whole; however, sometimes it felt like there was a bit of information overload. I'm sure that had I purchased the physically book and read it I would have been Ok. In any case, the facts leading to the conspiracy theory concerning his death left me wondering whether it was orchestrated and how different the US political landscape could have been had he remained alive.

Overall, I do recommend this audible book.

Good, and informative perspective of the era

Revisado: 09-26-10

This book was both informative and interesting. At times it gets a little dull and sometimes the amount of names require that you rewind more than necessary, but over all it gave me a different perspective than what I have previously read. It has three parts: Rome and how the Byzantine Empire continued as "Rome" long after the Roman Empire's demise and Europe sank into the dark ages. Constantinople and the rise of Islam, its conquests in Europe and the East, and the rise of the West. And lastly, how eastern Europe ultimately kept the Byzantine culture and religion alive.

It is a very good "global" view of the regions history and its affect on us today. The Byzantine Empire ultimately kept the Greek philosophies, art and culture alive for the west, and probably even Christianity, as well as its flavor of Christianity. Overall, it's probably closer to a 3.75 rating but I think it is a book worth reading (ok, to listen to).

Excellent book on a remarkable man

This is the 1st Audible book I have listened and I wasn't disappointed; neither will you. The narrator is excellent, changing his tone and using inflections to help you distinguish between characters. He keeps it clear & interesting.

I know that Alexander the Great is viewed as the greatest conqueror and military mind in history, and everyone else is compared to him, but after hearing this book I think that Hannibal Barker (did I spell his name right?) may have been short changed a bit. The decisions made by Hannibal, his superior ability to lead people and his subsequent victories throughout Spain and Italy were amazing. His battles against his rivals, Maximus and Scipio, are fascinating. How their decisions changed the course of things to come (both for themselves, their nations and history). This book has made me want to look further into other historical figures (something I was lacking in doing before).

I highly recommend this book. If you are into history or learning about important historical figures I don't think you'll be disappointed with this book. The only criticism I have is that the book never gives you any reference as to where these events took place in modern today. I would suggest looking through the net and familiarize your self with the Mediterranean, Italy, Spain and Northern Africa during the 200 - 300 BC era. This will help you enormously with your visualization of where these battles and events took place.
Again, Highly Recommended!!
