Historia
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Didn't love but Didn't hate it!
Revisado: 01-25-25
How is that so much happens in this book, but your left feeling like nothing happened? I guess it was a slow build up to the darkness we all knew was inevitable.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

So Good!!
Revisado: 08-08-23
Listen, I didn't want to like this book. I didn't think it could live up to the hype. But it is just SO GOOD! I loved the ending, especially! I was tempted to listen to it again right after I finished it the 1st time.

Could have been better
Revisado: 02-16-23
This book felt like it was building up and building up and never got there. The ending fell flat for sure. The narration was good, but the story was not.

It's not the best read
Revisado: 02-08-23
This story had the potential to be really good. I think with more development, it could have been a real thriller. Unfortunately, it was not. It did not build the storyline enough. It didn't create a bond with the characters, nor did it leave you questioning what was really going on. It set up the basis for the story and then blatantly gave you all of the answers. It felt the author got bored with the story and just rushed to finish it up.

I purchased this for my 9 year old and she loved it. She already asked for the next book. I listened to it with her on a road trip and it was a good story, definitely entertaining and age appropriate.

Just okay
Revisado: 01-18-23
The story was okay. It doesn't build a sense of suspense. So it did not feel like you needed to try to figure out who the murderer was or what was "really" going on. It was a good listen, but I probably will not finish the series. I like to feel more enthralled when I listen to my books.

Historia
Nora Brown teaches high school English and lives a quiet life in Seattle with her husband and six-year-old daughter. But one November day, moments after dismissing her class, a girl’s face appears above the students’ desks—“a wild numinous face with startling blue eyes, a face floating on top of shapeless drapes of purples and blues where arms and legs should have been. Terror rushes through Nora’s body—the kind of raw terror you feel when there’s no way out, when every cell in your body, your entire body, is on fire—when you think you might die.”

Good Listen
Revisado: 12-30-22
This is a good story. It was hard to listen to in a couple of scenes and probably should come with a warning for victims of sexual assault when they were children.
But overall, it was a good book, and the ending was nice if you think about it metaphorically. I wouldn't read it again due to the uncomfortable content but I do not regret reading it.
