Great but odd pauses
Revisado: 01-11-20
Great as always. Not sure if intentional but there are various extra long pauses or ‘dead’ space between chapters and larger story breaks. Just be aware so you don’t think something is wrong.

Classic and still great
Revisado: 11-03-18
Good story, and a nice long series to wrap up into. This book was solid, but it was difficult to distinguish between the characters talking sometimes. Narrator could have used a tiny, little extra bit of variation between the different characters to help.

Historia
As the Jedi and the Republic focus on internal struggles, a new threat surfaces beyond the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim. An enemy appears from outside known space, bearing weapons and technology unlike anything New Republic scientists have ever seen. Suddenly, Luke, Mara, Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, along with their children, are thrust again into battle. But this time, all their courage, sacrifice, and even the power of the Force itself, may not be enough.

Too many side stories for such a short book. Character plots are not going in a direction that makes sense. Sorry

Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. One minute, they're drinking away the dreariness of their lives, escaping into a fantasy game and laughing their asses off. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

Historia
Why would a middle-aged businessman who had never even spent the night outdoors, attempt to hike the entire Appalachian Trail? Bill Walker, a former commodities trader in Chicago and London, and an avid walker, had developed a virtual obsession to hike this historic 2,175 mile footpath in one hiking season. In the spring of 2005 he set off from his home state of Georgia, hoping to make it to Mount Katahdin in northern Maine before the arrival of winter.

Really enjoyed his books. Listened to all three. Yes, he messes up the reading sometimes, but it's authentic. If you want to enjoy the story of a hiker, these are good books.

What is the best way for the average person to authentically experience the world's greatest mountain range - the Himalayas? Fortunately, there is now a good answer. The Annapurna Circuit in Nepal is the most popular footpath in Asia. Its genius lies in its design. Trekkers wind their way around and along some of the world's greatest peaks, ultimately getting near 18,000 feet, without ever having to do any 'technical climbing'.

Revisado: 05-26-17
Read Bills PCT book, had to check this one out too. I enjoy how he writes and his reading is very formal which appeals to me. He provides the right sense of emotion since he actually experienced the book. Will by each of his other books and enjoy. I wish I had the time and money to follow his trekking lead.

Historia
The life story of Gary Gygax, godfather of all fantasy adventure games, has been told only in bits and pieces. Michael Witwer has written a dynamic, dramatized biography of Gygax from his childhood in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, to his untimely death in 2008. Gygax's magnum opus, Dungeons & Dragons, would explode in popularity throughout the 1970s and '80s and irreversibly alter the world of gaming. D&D is the best-known, best-selling role-playing game of all time, and it boasts an elite class of alumni.

Historia
The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (PCT )is the perfect place for an average person to do something extraordinary. Bill Walker ("Skywalker"), who stands 6'11", might seem like anything but average. Yet in a brutally honest tone, he lays to bare all his considerable weaknesses and fears. Among these are crushing weight loss and fatigue, along with a fear of getting lost or a bear stealing his food. Nonetheless, he is bound and determined to hike the PCT which - at 2,663 miles - runs all the way from Mexico to Canada.

Enjoyed. Wish I could try!
Revisado: 05-05-17
Well written and read. I enjoyed the brief breaks into history, etc. There wasn't too many but there was just enough to provide perspective. I like how he writes. Less fiction like and more biography like. I will listen to his two other books and hope they are similar.

Historia
In the fall of 1978, Ray Ordorica packed everything he thought he would need into his Toyota LandCruiser and drove north to Alaska. He came to a land he had never seen, to find something he wasn't even sure existed: a wilderness cabin he could use for a year or more to live, think, relax, read, and write. Ordorica found his cabin, fixed it up, and, although it was just an un-insulated 12- by 16-foot one-room log structure, he spent three winters in it in relative comfort.

Frustrating when the speaker would talk quiet, for effect. Too quiet for the volume level so you miss things. Happens frequently.
