1998 Phophecy for our divided times

This book and The Parable of the Sower came recommended as lessons in combating normalcy bias and building residency. They are that and more. Both books describe our times accurately. While I continued to listen in hopes that mother and child were reunited, I found the truth that indoctrination into even gentle hate leaves a vast gulf between us. I would love it if there were a third book that showed us that the two sides could again be one.

An Authoritatian's Fantasy Justification

While the descriptions of tactics and execution of guerilla warfare are commendable, I found the rest of the novel just so much propaganda. This is worth the read for the survival and preparedness advice. However, our Nation was not founded as a Christian Nation so alot of the book tries to convince the reader that the next civil war will be between the god fearing brave people and the evil rest of world. A truly silly world view. Take the good advice and leave the rest.

Regular People Saving Our Country

Stacey does a great job of taking people who some people see as burdens on society and making then heros. The characters grow before your eyes. Real world challenges with down to earth solutions. Loved the series.

Gave this author another try.

I gave this author another try. I stuck with it after the prologues even though they were a good preview of the conspiracy theory beliefs portrayed in the book. This author gives lip service to how his characters get past their differences. I also tired of the "nanny state" phrase used over and over. That being said, I won't return to listen again as I do with so many other books. The action wasn't believable. The ending was only an angry man's dream of how leaders should behave.

Loved the Characters - Real Survival

I listen to many apocalyptic stories. This one describes the day to day struggles of obtaining food and water. Characters show ingenuity and persistence as they defend themselves. This book is not preachy and does not blame the end of the world on either the alt right or liberals. It describes how people can survive by contributing regardless of their differences. The book has the right amount of action. It was very refreshing and inspiring.

These characters inspired me every step of the way

I love Devon's books because the journey he takes us on is so vivid. His characters survive by doing the basics; getting food, finding shelter, water, and defending themselves. Peter and SSM Johnson are heros if the first degree. I could feel the feat and tension of the zombie threat in every chapter through the narration and dialogue.
