A multiverse love story
Revisado: 11-02-18
A thoroughly gripping science fiction story that focuses on the feelings of the main character rather than the technology. Beautifully written such that the reader vividly follows Jason, the protagonist, through realistic outcomes of hardship in an "unrealistic" world. Mainly a love story, an Odyssey up to the last few paragraphs. Dealing with the concept of "traveling" across the multiverse, it is also a cautionary tale to our curiosity and desires to experience that idea.
The audio book is a pleasure to listen to, a good performance, well paced.

Historia
Following a scalding row with her mother, 15-year-old Holly Sykes slams the door on her old life. But Holly is no typical teenage runaway: A sensitive child once contacted by voices she knew only as "the radio people," Holly is a lightning rod for psychic phenomena. Now, as she wanders deeper into the English countryside, visions and coincidences reorder her reality until they assume the aura of a nightmare brought to life.

A winding story, threaded thinly
Revisado: 07-18-15
This was my second book by David Mitchell. The first, Cloud Atlas was amazing to me. This story in comparison was fine, though often I was asking "what's the point of this part?". The writing is very good (though too detailed at times - not sure if that is a perception from listening to the story than reading it ) and the preformed (and accents ) excellent. The overall story... seems now a bit more for teens. This is a first impression.

Historia
After living in Britain for two decades, Bill Bryson recently moved back to the United States with his English wife and four children. They were greeted by a new and improved America that boasts microwave pancakes, 24-hour dental-floss hotlines, and the staunch conviction that ice is not a luxury item. Delivering the brilliant comic musings that are a Bryson hallmark, I'm a Stranger Here Myself recounts his sometimes disconcerting reunion with the land of his birth.

Truly funny perspective of America
Revisado: 05-03-15
I smiled (through the serious stories) and laughed through the rest of the book. Bill - Mr. Bryson has a great command of English, especially of metaphor and smilie. More key is his delivery which multiplies the humor of what he's written. Gear book.

Historia
Best-selling author Mary Roach returns with a new adventure to the invisible realm we carry around inside. Roach takes us down the hatch on an unforgettable tour. The alimentary canal is classic Mary Roach terrain: The questions explored in Gulp are as taboo, in their way, as the cadavers in Stiff and every bit as surreal as the universe of zero gravity explored in Packing for Mars. Why is crunchy food so appealing? Why is it so hard to find words for flavors and smells? Why doesn’t the stomach digest itself? How much can you eat before your stomach bursts?

Interesting and enlghtening
Revisado: 04-18-15
Great core story, peppered with many interesting segues. For the most part I was hooked listening. Made the book seem shorter than expected (expected since our 'core tube' is so diverse in functionality).

Very enlightening and entertaining!
Revisado: 02-15-15
Enjoying science fiction literature has been bolstered with Michael Drout's insights. There are new (to me) I'm ready to explore, and authors I've read that I want to reread with a new perspective. Much great research across SF literature history is evident in this lecture series. Great work!
