So predictable….
Revisado: 02-15-23
Wow…purchased based on reviews…my 2nd CRH book…thought I’d like it better than Runtime…no so much. Story/antagonist was obvious..and I’m not good at figuring out endings…very anti-climactic.
While I enjoy the narrator & her soft Irish brogue, had a super annoying habit of dropping her voice very low to increase drama…but often was so low I couldn’t hear it! When I turned up volume, blasted out by next line.
Not impressed with this author & I so wanted to be…I’m very sad.

My first CRH
Revisado: 12-30-22
Not sure what to say…intriguing idea, yet found the story hard to follow…and when I did “get” the story, wasn’t overly impressed. A story within a story within a story…liked the flipping back & forth from reality, to Kate & Joel to the original story…yet I wasn’t thrilled with the convolutions. Will try another by this author-enjoyed the narrator very much.

So interesting
Revisado: 12-26-22
I am not a massive Chainsaw fan, but am planning to re-watch it after listening to this book. This was a very interesting, entertaining book about the making of the movie & it’s deep impact on our psyche. So cool that “Leatherface” himself wrote and voiced this book! Gunnar has a very pleasing voice & was enjoyable to listen. So many profound insights into the characters, themes of the movie & genre itself. So glad I took a chance & got this book-I highly recommend it!

Historia
In 1976 a deadly virus emerged from the Congo forest. As swiftly as it came, it disappeared, leaving no trace. Over the four decades since, Ebola has emerged sporadically, each time to devastating effect. It can kill up to 90 percent of its victims. In between these outbreaks, it is untraceable, hiding deep in the jungle. The search is on to find Ebola's elusive host animal.

Interesting tho dated
Revisado: 12-25-22
Super interesting book about Ebola from 1976-2014. Speaks of different strains of Ebola, lethality & health care challenges as these virus spread to cities. Also touches on Marburg (the other filovirus) and other various bat reservoir viruses. Brief mentions of about SARS, Hanta, Lyassa, MERS & Covid-“from China”. Presents different hypotheses about presentation and age of Ebola. Takes a couple of swipes at Preston’s “The Hot Zone” as being scientifically inaccurate yet a scintillating read. I submit that different strains of Ebola present slightly differently and Ebola Zaire (now called by a different name) was the most lethal and had more hemorrhagic symptoms.
Extremely captivating explanation of why bats are considered the reservoir for many viruses.
Truly enjoyed this book & recommend it to any who is interested in Ebola. Narrator kept referring to “USAMARIID” by stating each initial every time the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases was referenced. It is my understanding that USAMARIID colloquially referred to as “U-sama-rid”. Other than that, narrator did a great job.

Modern history is filled with terrible crimes, baffling hoaxes, and seedy scandals. The infamous Jack the Ripper slayings. The alleged survival of Anastasia Romanov, the youngest daughter of the murdered Tsar. Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong's public fall from grace. The Chicago Tylenol poisonings and the copycat crimes that followed.

The first couple of chapters were interesting-real forensic info…THE WORST part was when the author DEFENDED Ilse Koch….seriously??? Is not DIRECT testimony enough to PROVE Koch was a war criminal??? WTH??? So we should feel sorry this POS was in jail??? She SHOULD have been!!!
Anti-Semitism at its WORST….reprehensible

An outstanding, comprehensive documentary thru which I learned much. While I had heard of the Wonderland Murders, my impression was it was merely a drug deal gone wrong…Connolly’s take on this case is so through and included the historical components of the time. Truly enjoyed this documentary & recommend it highly. Wonderful, insightful interviews with key players in the case. So impactful hearing it from those involved with this case.I’m now looking forward to listening to Connolly’s other podcasts.

Imogene is young, beautiful . . . and dead, waiting in the Rosebud Theater one afternoon in 1945. . . . Francis was human once, but now he's an eight-foot-tall locust, and everyone in Calliphora will tremble when they hear him sing. . . . John is locked in a basement stained with the blood of half a dozen murdered children, and an antique telephone, long since disconnected, rings at night with calls from the dead.

Eh…not thrilled
Revisado: 09-02-22
My favorite was “Voluntary Committal”…I loved the overall story about a spectrum individual & all the possible gifts they have. What truly bothered me was the lack of any definitive/complete endings to the stories. Spent majority of time setting up beautiful descriptions of characters & situations so really cared about them…then abrupt ending without closure. Doing that once/twice is OK to leave to your imagination, but almost every story was like that. Liked them, just deeply disappointed…many times rewound the story sure that I missed something in the abrupt ending….sad.

Thai author is new to me-so happy I discovered her! Interesting story, a few twists & surprises, no foul language or overly descriptive sex scenes. This author knows how to create “clean heat” & romance!
Good mystery, enjoyed it much!
Christian overtones-but not too heavy.
Kathryn Markey did an awesome job bringing these characters to life-like listening to a play.
Highly recommend!

WOW!!!!
Revisado: 08-19-22
I purchased this as a “Deal of the Day”-what a delicious surprise!! This book is fantastic! First part of the book is the story of a priest who also is the sheriff in a small rural town struggling to balance both the religious and law enforcement sides of his life. Solomon is very wise, patient & loving-all
qualities highly valued in both a priest and sheriff. Then, a number of odd killings take place & there seems to be a serial killer in town. Solomon is challenged to try to catch this monster.
The second half of the book is told from the serial killer’s point of view. Interesting insight into the narcissistic, sociopath’s mind, motivation & delusions.
This book is such a delight! So many twists & turns-will be surprised throughout the book and all the way to the end! Highly recommend this book!
Did not care for the narrator..presentation was flat and droning. As much as I loved this novel, I can’t imagine how much more fun it would have been with a better narrator. I hope Jeremy Scott writes more mysteries like this one!!
