I love the story line
Revisado: 09-26-24
I just love this series! No Cussing. No dodge passion sequences. But still convey's true feelings vigorouslyl! The main characters love story coming into bloom and growing is wonderfully brought out. And the funny and dramatic on- going lives of the folks living in the town is well written and well read!! Wonderful characters.
Thank you for this Series.

Historia
Bilbury Grange is the second in Vernon Coleman's series of Young Country Doctor books. The place is the English county of Devon. The time is the 1970s. A young doctor, just married and in a new home (a vast and rambling country house in desperate need of repairs and renovation), has taken over a small village practice when suddenly the authorities decide that the village isn't big enough to have its own doctor. The villagers decide otherwise. Bilbury is the village everyone dreams of living in. It's the village where people speak to strangers and where doors are left unlocked.

it was ok, if I was much younger
Revisado: 06-14-24
If I was in my pre-teens, it would been more interesting for me. I was not very interested for the most part with either book 1 or 2. But I hate reading a book in a series and not finishing the series.
I should have stopped at 1. Not a book I would recommend for someone who has seen some years.
Couple of words I would not want my kids using either.

In times of not knowing, Sheila Walsh offers a lifeline of hope. With great compassion born of experience and hardship, Walsh comes alongside the hurting, fearful, and exhausted to remind us that we serve a God who is so much greater than our momentary troubles, no matter how insurmountable they feel. She doesn't offer a quick fix. She offers a God fix. Sharing from her own painful struggles and digging deep into biblical stories of rescue, hope, and miracles, she gives you the strength to keep going, to keep holding on to God in a world turned upside down.

Historia
Readers of Patrick Taylor's books know Mrs. Kinky Kincaid as the unflappable housekeeper who looks after two frequently frazzled doctors in the colourful Irish village of Ballybucklebo. She is a trusted fixture in the lives of those around her, and it often seems as though Kinky has always been there.Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Not what I was expecting
Revisado: 02-13-23
I struggled with the book. I was expecting to hear more of Kinky and her husband, and her early days with the Dr's. I did not enjoy the first 14 chapters and jumped through more than half of the book just to get to the end. I am not a big fan of ghost stories. And yes hearing Kinky in a very different voice was a bit of a disappointment. If you liked the type of story line it was fine. I really didn't like it, not for me. But I will continue the series as I am enjoying the other writings quite a lot.
I would really like a refund. Sorry.

Historia
In An Irish Country Christmas, the third book in Patrick Taylor's Irish Country Books, Barry Laverty, M.B., is looking forward to his first Christmas in the cozy village of Ballybucklebo, at least until he learns that his sweetheart, Patricia, might not be coming home for the holidays. That unhappy prospect dampens his spirits somewhat, but Barry has little time to dwell on his romantic disappointments. Christmas may be drawing nigh, but there is little peace to be found on earth, especially for a young doctor plying his trade in the emerald hills and glens of rural Ireland.

I am enjoying the series. I would give the all the stars, but I have to shut my ears at some of the misuse of the of Biblical names. Otherwise good characters and enjoyable stories in the stories! Quite a few laughs!!

A first time for listening to this author.
Revisado: 10-11-22
It was a bit slow on the start. I did get lost a couple of times as to were the characters were when the switch towns, as the story line changed very quickly in the narration, and I could not adjust it by the speed. That was a challenge. I did have a hard time with the narration. For me the voices didn't work with the characters. But, that is probably a personal preference, it did make it hard a t listen for me. But the story was ok. And I like good endings. Don't know if I will get another by this author if it is the same narrator.

Historia
After Phil Robertson quoted Scripture in an interview with a national magazine, his hit show, Duck Dynasty, put him on “indefinite hiatus.” Phil immediately knew what had happened: he had become a target of cancel culture. Since that time, Phil has spoken out against public shaming, strategic campaigns to get Bible-believing employees fired, and other tactics that are wreaking havoc in our society. In a deeply divided country, with so many bent on condemning and silencing others, Phil calls for us to carry out the unifying message of Jesus Christ.

Scripture apply today, we don't hate people, love them through it. Boundaries are good, being respectful of them is the challenge for many. Stop being offended when someone disagrees with you. You are not agreeing with them at the same time. Thanks Phil for the teaching!!

Historia
The average person has 70,000 thoughts every day, and many of those thoughts trigger a corresponding emotion. No wonder so many of us often feel like we're controlled by our emotions. Our lives would be much improved is we controlled them. Joyce Meyer discusses the way that the brain processes and stores memories and thoughts, and then - emotion by emotion - she explains how we can manage our reactions to those emotions.

Historia
Anna is eager to begin a new chapter in her life as a Lancaster County tour guide in the picturesque area where her Plain grandmother once stayed. Anna wishes she could talk with her grandmother about those long-ago days, but the elderly woman suffers from Alzheimer's, and beyond a vague hint about an old stone wall, much about that time is a mystery. Thankfully, Martin Nolt, a handsome Mennonite, takes the young Beachy Amish woman under his wing for her training, familiarizing her with local highlights, including Peaceful Meadows Horse Retreat, for children with special needs.
