Historia
Commander Scott McNabb, of the science vessel Hermes, is three years into a five-year-long survey of the asteroid belt. It’s an excruciatingly dull mission, yet it keeps him far away from the agencies that are chasing him down. However, his fortunes change, along with the other four crew members, when they discover a derelict spaceship in orbit around a binary asteroid. Scott’s share of the salvage would be enough to clear his name and start a new life.

Good space opera
Revisado: 11-21-19
Pretty interesting story about the crew of a space survey vessel embarking on an unexpected adventure.
The narrator was good enough, making sure to sound different for most of the characters. He pauses sometimes in the middle of sentences, as if turning a page, but that's not really a problem for me as listener.
It's more or less a standalone story, but with an (expected) ending that made me continue with the next book right after finishing this one.

Awesome story, awesome narration
Revisado: 10-17-19
Just finished this book, and what a delight it was!
I really loved the story, which has science fiction, fantasy and funny elements mixed together in a really great way.
The narrator, Luke Daniels, is fantastic, he really makes the different voices stand out and makes them sound believable.
All in all, this has become one of my favourites already.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Pretty funny take on Star Trek's red shirts
Revisado: 10-10-19
Like other reviewers said, the constant "he said, she said" is annoying, but luckily I was able to ignore it.
I didn't expect the story to go where it went, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, I thought it was a nice story, but not exceptional.
There were several moments that made me laugh silently, which not many books accomplish.

Awesome grand scale tale!
Revisado: 08-14-19
It's a long book, and only part 1, but I enjoyed every moment of it! I love the scale of it and all the separate threads that take place all over the universe and eventually will come together. Really looking forward to reading book 2!

Thumbs up from a newbie
Revisado: 07-05-19
The LitRPG genre is new to me, and I'm not a gamer either, but I liked the book. The story could use some more depth, but perhaps that comes in the next books.
The narrator took a bit getting used to, but grew on me. After a while I really liked the performance.
