Historia
To young Neeka Perry, Denny is one thing. In the streets, he's a whole other entity. She was brave enough to love both sides, upside down, all around, and back again. He provided her with all a girl could believe she dreamed of—security, desire, and, most enviably, genuine love, all wrapped up in gold and diamonds. He removed her far from the course of her ordinary college girl lifestyle and swept her into his world of whimsical madness. For this and more, her love went beyond loyalty. She was devout… devout to him. But is there such a thing as too much passion? Can you love someone too much?

Can you actually love people enough to stop loving them?
Revisado: 04-12-25
Do you love each other to stop loving each other?”. I listened to this book through audible and may I say that the narration is PHENOMENAL! I read the actual book around the time it was first released years back. I gave this book initially a 3 star, now I love me some Takerra Allen so I had to spin the block on this one to find out exactly why I gave it a 3 star…At this present time actually I would like to recant my 3 star and upgrade it to a 4.5 star! I don’t think I really grasp the entire concept of the story way back when but I now do. Denny and Neeka’s love story was beyond toxic. Neeka turned a blind eye to Denny’s behaviors before learning of his disability due to her love for him. He was literally her first love. Her family pretty much disowned her for being with him. I loved the way that her loved her, however his love became obsession. *Spoilers* After Denny’s mother revealed Denny’s multiple mental health disorders, including dissociative personality disorder, I think things were put in perspective for Neeka. I think she wished she would have know this from the beginning it likely would had influenced her decision to be with him against her family’s wishes. I am sure he knew this wish his why he kept her from meeting his mother and revealing that truth. I feel that Denny wanted to do right but it was difficult to fight those voices he always heard.
I really do like how this book shed a light on mental health disorders and how those disorders within ourselves affect those we love with-out the proper treatment.

Almost DNF
Revisado: 03-01-24
I didn’t care too much for this book. I’ve had a lot of books of this author in my library for years but this is the first one I’d actually read. This book was very boring! Even with Audio it took me 3 weeks to get through it. This story follows Belle and 18 year old that had to drop out of college because her entire family was murdered. She coincidentally runs into a “stripper bus” ran by Aria “Lady Passion” who offers her an opportunity to enter the world of exotic dancer. This bus was on a literal tour through states stripping for wealthy men. The head of the organization is a man named Gene who happens to have some sort of connection to Belle’s family murder. The plot was there but the entertainment was not. I was underwhelmed by everything that happened. Nothing surprised me in this story. I only gave it 2 stars because I kind of seen where this story was going but the characters, especially “Kid’s” character was developed enough for me. I may or may not read another book from this author.

Secrets Revealed
Revisado: 02-03-24
The second installment of this series was just as fire as the first! There are some secrets revealed about the Borrego family and some twists that even I was surprised to witness! I kind of wish there was a third part to this story but because there as so much going on maybe a third part would had been too much. Questions from the fist book are answered as secrets are revealed. Risa kept Micah’s ass chasing her after his infidelity in the last book! She was not letting up on getting back with him for NOTHING. I almost felt bad for the guy! Romy pissed me off even considering not telling Dre the paternity of that baby. Ms. Carissa took one look at that baby and called her son right away, as she should had!. I do feel as if this part focused more on Risa and Micah along with Raquel and Melo’s relationships.

Great storyline!
Revisado: 01-29-24
Ok, sooo this is my first read by this author (although I’ve had this book in my kindle to read for years)! This story goes hard Ms. Johnni Sherri. You did your thing Ms. Ma’am! I was well entertained thought out the book. Although, I did have it in the kindle verseion, I decided to listen to it through audio book. I personally didn’t like the narrators and wish I would had proceeded to read it instead. However, it didn’t take too much away from the fire story line. I really didn’t understand why Risa didn’t just go to the cops when she found Zo’s body. Maybe she thought that because he was abusive towards her, she would had been the first suspect. I am not sure but that part made no sense. Micah’s ass was just a straight up man whore I didn’t care for him that much. Now that I think about it, the only one of the Borrego brothers that I did sort of like was Melo. I think Melo and Raquel need their own storyline! Romi had a a lot of drama going on in her life. She is an example of how arrogance and beauty could be a woman’s downfall if she doesn’t humble herself. I still didn’t like how Dre did her though. Even though he was cold with it, I didn’t like the way she lied about the paternity of the baby. Lastly, Dame was my most disliked Borrego brother! He treated Raina as if he was God’s gift to women and she was still nice to him no matter what! This story was such an enjoyable read! On to book 2!

Hurt People, Hurt people
Revisado: 01-17-24
This book sort of dragged on from Ethic 2. In the installment Messiah and Morgan’s relationship has evolved into something similar to what Ethic and Raven had in “Moth to a Flame”. I am still very much surprised that Ethic hasn’t found out about Messiah and Morgan yet. Although, he does seem to have a lot going on with Bella, maybe he it has crossed his mind but doesn’t know how to address it. I was very surprised that Ya Ya may an appearance in this book. Alani’s audacity when she seen the two kiss when she has told this man to stay away from her and that she didn’t want to be with him countless times. In my opinion, there was nothing explosive happening in this book. On to book 4, eventually!.

When a handsome stranger forces his way into her world, she quickly learns that being open to new possibilities just might be the missing ingredient to securing her happily ever after. Rahshon Allen is a man that speaks his mind and makes no apologies for who he is or how he feels. Those characteristics are what land him right in the middle of the chaos that seems to be just what he needs to escape his dark past.

I love K.C. Mills stories, they are mostly light-hearted romances. I will say that this was the first time that a male leading character didn’t “woo” me. I just wasn’t feeling Rashad “Rah” Allen. He wasn’t a terrible character he just wasn’t it for me and that’s ok. His reasoning for going off on Embria was childish and made no sense. Embria seemed to be a bit too timid to be a psychiatrist. How could she possibly help others through there issues and not be able to address her “mommy” problems.

Drama!
Revisado: 11-10-23
Whew! This was a really good book! This is an old fav author of mine I just haven’t read many from her since the Drama Queen series! But chillle Sylvia has a lot on her plate with taking on Gary’s teenage love child when the mother passes away. Not only did Sylvia not know about the child but didn’t know about the mother until she passed. She is going through the blues with her own 17 year old daughter now to add a 15 year old to the mix! Her sister Janell is another story! She is something else. How can she start sleeping with a married man and her excuse is that they’re are soulmates! I didn’t too much care for the narrator’s voice because I listened to this through audio book but I did thoroughly enjoy the drama! I need a little drama with my stories lol! One thing La Jill Hunt is going to do is tell a story!

I’ve been a long time ready of Carl Weber. I would say this is a decent read however, for Kason to be a therapist he was sure pretty terrible at reading Voncile and his best friend Omar. I think there were parts of the story that were a bit far fetched, however it was a decent read. There were some parts I enjoyed and some parts that were just “meh”. The end was a bit surprising I’d say but definitely deserving for most parties involed. However I do believe this was worth the time. HOWEVER, I did listen to this through audio book.
