Historia
As Martha Beck says in her book, “Integrity is the cure for psychological suffering. Period.” In The Way of Integrity, Beck presents a four-stage process that anyone can use to find integrity, and with it, a sense of purpose, emotional healing, and a life free of mental suffering. Much of what plagues us—people pleasing, staying in stale relationships, negative habits—all point to what happens when we are out of touch with what truly makes us feel whole.

So good. Highly recommend for inspiration. Read beautifully, highly interesting and no bs. Integrity is key, and we don’t talk about this enough in our sick post truth world.

Historia
As it was in Anna Karenina, Madame Bovary, and Othello, so it is in life. Most forms of private vice and public evil are kindled and sustained by lies. Acts of adultery and other personal betrayals, financial fraud, government corruption - even murder and genocide - generally require an additional moral defect: a willingness to lie. In Lying, bestselling author and neuroscientist Sam Harris argues that we can radically simplify our lives and improve society by merely telling the truth in situations where others often lie.

Built To Last, the defining management study of the 90s, showed how great companies triumph over time and how long-term sustained performance can be engineered into the DNA of an enterprise from the very beginning. But what about companies that are not born with great DNA? How can good companies, mediocre companies, even bad companies achieve enduring greatness?

so unnessesarily repetative and long, omg
Revisado: 11-14-24
The research is good and important, and you can see they put in the work, but as a book it really feels like they got paid per word. the Author repeats everything so many times it's almost insulting. Also, I am not sure how this research stands the test of time, since it is qualitative, and uses cases that did not age that well, and during a time when technilogy was less of a factor. needs an update for the current decade or even century.

Essentialism is more than a time-management strategy or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.

a bot simplistic and dangerous
Revisado: 05-19-24
this book can cause a bunch of damage, since iy ignores many nuances and complexitioes of real life. yes, it's a good guide on how to play the role of a seductive f*ckboy and successfuly manupulate women into having sex with you, like a mentalist would trick an ild lady into giving him his wallet. it is important to consider a few things though. First, most men will not be able ti sumply fake things like confidence l, self love and power. these are quality one must cultivate through brave self development work which is not at all mentioned here. One cannot lift more than he can, phisically and mentally, so wounded soul of a man has to heal before he can simply be strong, cool and full of humor. Almost every advice in this book spunds like "be taller, women like that!", which will only cause anxiety for shorter men. citing tesearch into what makes women attracted to as*holes isn't enough. There are nore important things in telationships that attracting a woman sexually, and the irony here could cause damage. If someone simply tries to act like this book suggests, he will have to pretend, act inauthenticly and keep that going like a fake pretender l, knowing the woman he desires might leave him if she sees his true self. There is a good reason to grow through relationships while being vulnerable, even if woman reject you. please also remember that this book and others like it are talking about most classicly manly men, and many men are not like that, and they can easily attract saner more fotting women who are not like the ones described in this book. read with a pinch of salt.

how bad this book is
Revisado: 04-10-24
the subject is so important and philosiphically interesting, that this book is almost commiting a sin. it is written poorly, narrated badly and in general not worth your time. It is short, so I took the time and finished it before my verdict, but I am honestly dosappointed. it's not really even about shadow work. it mostly focuses on simple self development approaches. it's like anrobot is reading a favebook post full of promotional stuff. no real depth, not fitting non-fiction standards at all. i wish I could be less harsh, but it was just too bad.

Historia
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

dangerous bit insightful
Revisado: 02-20-24
the book is very hardh and lacks important warnings and caviats. it can easily lead to inauthentic violance and spiritual bypasses. many men come to this reading in dire need to develop their faminnine side first, and are not mature enough to understand what it takes ti ravish their partners or push themselves out of their comfort zones. the language sounds a lot like "must" and "should". also, tgis is relevant to 80 percent of men, so one out of five might feel that something is wrong with them. not enough foreword on this crutial aspect. please read with caution as if he is talking about the masculine part in you, not you as a whole.
