One of my Favorite Books
Revisado: 01-09-20
It had been the better part of 20 years since I read Jurassic Park. I was a kid when the movie came out and read the book right after. Decided to listen to it while working on some projects and I am so glad I did. I still love this book so much, and you remember how much of a technical genius Michael Crichton was, a lot that was left out of the movie.
Seems that Scott Brick has done a lot of more contemporary classic titles, and I do enjoy listening to him.

Historia
Aided by the powerful magic of Vagel, the evil Arch-Imager, the merciless armies are marching against the kingdom of Mordant. In its hour of greatest need, two unlikely champions emerge. One is Geraden, whose inability to master the simplest skills of Imagery has made him a laughingstock. The other is Terisa Morgan, transferred to Mordant from a Manhattan apartment by Geraden’s faulty magic. Together, Geraden and Terisa discover undreamed-of talents within themselves—talents that make them more than a match for any Imager... including Vagel himself. Unfortunately, those talents also mark them for death.

I have loved this book since I was a kid
Revisado: 01-09-20
I'm not joking. This book as well as A Man Rides Through, are only a few of the books that I have consistently re-read over the years. I was 12/13 when I first read a second hand paperback version of this book. I now own 3 different copies of it. 2 paperback 1 hard back. I don't know why, but the story from the beginning has just always grabbed me and should be a requirement for any fantasy fan.
The narration isn't bad, Scott Brick does a wonderful job, and I wasn't fully annoyed at his voices for women (because lets be honest, men's voices for women can be horrid), but his didn't distract from the story or make me cringe.

A must for a true crime lover
Revisado: 01-09-20
This book was amazing. Such a wonderful insight into how people get into true crime, I mean really get into it, and how normal people can actually help solve a crime (be smart though, abide be certain rules, and don't be stupid). Because of this book I was introduced to Billy Jensen and Paul Holes (Evil Has A Name on Audible) and now listen to their podcast.

Historia
In The Butchering Art, the historian Lindsey Fitzharris reveals the shocking world of 19th-century surgery on the eve of profound transformation. She conjures up early operating theaters - no place for the squeamish - and surgeons, working before anesthesia, who were lauded for their speed and brute strength. They were baffled by the persistent infections that kept mortality rates stubbornly high. A young, melancholy Quaker surgeon named Joseph Lister would solve the deadly riddle and change the course of history.

Wow
Revisado: 04-03-17
Wow. Just wow. I can see why this book is not for everyone, but it's still quite amazing. The author has a beautiful way with words, when it comes to descriptions of things; from smells to looks, too emotions. It took a couple chapters for me to get into the book, but once I got into it, I was hooked. I cringed, and was uncomfortable, but I was also frustrated and angry. I read one review that said the reader felt a range of emotions and they were right. I felt them all. I'm still sitting here in a post book haze. Just staring, not knowing what to do. It just doesn't feel right to get up after finishing this book and do your next mundane task. So I wrote the review.
I also have to give props to the Narrator. She was amazing! Sometimes voices done by narrators can annoy me during a book, and if that's the case, I usually will finish the book by reading, rather than listening. But Jorjeana Marie is fantastic. She really brought to life the characters, and to have so many different voices was nothing short of amazing. She helped to pull me into the book.
Overall, this book is not for everyone, but for those that do read or listen to it, all the way through, most will be in awe of it.
