<Quote> D'ont <Unquote> bother with audio book
Revisado: 02-28-25
Excessive use of quotations, many for one word, make this audio book very difficult to finish. I quit at the 3rd chapter as the <quote> <unquote> was distracting and annoying. Story and facts may be solid, however, at this time there may be other books detailing these events in more accurately or with better validation. Reading this book is probably fine as you can look past all the quotation marks but do not waste your time on the audio book.

Historia
In The Assassin’s Accomplice, historian Kate Clifford Larson tells the gripping story of Mary Surratt, a little-known conspirator in the plot to kill Abraham Lincoln, and the first woman ever to be executed by the federal government. A Confederate sympathizer, Surratt ran the boarding house where the conspirators met to plan Lincoln’s assassination. Set against the backdrop of the Civil War, The Assassin’s Accomplice tells the intricate story of the Lincoln conspiracy through the eyes of its only female participant, offering a fresh perspective on America’s most famous murder.

Interesting but monotonous audio
Revisado: 08-21-24
Good listen if you know nothing about the conspiracy and planning behind Lincoln's assassination. No new information or research in this book, appears to be a retelling of the historical account. Author is sympathetic to Mary Surratt's treatment at trial. I would not read again.

Historia
General George Patton needed a miracle. In December 1944, the Allies found themselves stuck. Rain had plagued the troops daily since September, turning roads into rivers of muck, slowing trucks and tanks to a crawl. A thick ceiling of clouds had grounded American warplanes, allowing the Germans to reinforce. The sprint to Berlin had become a muddy, bloody stalemate, costing thousands of American lives. Patton seethed, desperate for some change, any change, in the weather.

Another Payton book but different
Revisado: 07-02-24
Despite another biography of the greatest combat leader in US history, the focus of this book is on the human side of George S Patton. The genesis of the famous prayer is developed and provides a theme for this account. Overall, you will receive new insights into this World War III leader and it makes for a most enjoyable read and reflection on this great man.

Author obsessed with torture claims
Revisado: 05-06-24
Largely anecdotal account of this operation with little research from military or official original sources. I was looking for greater details of the support of US POWs held in Germany but this book did not provide background and genesis for this secret operation.
A large detraction in this "historical" account was the author comments throughout the book of the unfounded use of torture in recent US Middle East military experience as compared to the lack of torture by American interrogators during WW 2. The comments imply that the US military engaged in this illegal activity and were political remarks which have no place in an objective historical account.

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was a world away from John Luckadoo’s hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. But when the Japanese attacked the American naval base on December 7, 1941, he didn’t hesitate to join the military. Trained as a pilot with the United States Air Force, Second Lieutenant Luckadoo was assigned to the 100th Bomb Group stationed in Thorpe Abbotts, England. Between June and October 1943, he flew B-17 Flying Fortresses over France and Germany on bombing runs devised to destroy the Nazi war machine.

A Deep Respect for all our Aircrew
Revisado: 03-25-24
I've studied, read about, and professionally discussed the history of the Strategic Bomber Campaign of World War II as a cadet, B-52 pilot and crew member, at Staff College, and at War College. Throughout my career I heard many stories but none so profound and moving as Maj Luckadoo's experience. As a country, we were extremely fortunate to have young men who stepped up to the call and performed their duty admirably and professionally. it was my honor to follow in their footsteps during my US Air Force career.

Historia
Killing the Witches revisits one of the most frightening and inexplicable episodes in American history: the events of 1692 and 1693 in Salem Village, Massachusetts. What began as a mysterious affliction of two young girls who suffered violent fits and exhibited strange behavior soon spread to other young women. Rumors of demonic possession and witchcraft consumed Salem. Soon three women were arrested under suspicion of being witches—but as the hysteria spread, more than 200 people were accused. Thirty were found guilty, twenty were executed, and others died in jail or their lives were ruined.

Fascinating and insightful account of the madness in Salem 300 years ago. The connection with today's "Cancel Culture" is appropriate. Strange how human nature remains the same regardless of technology, experience, or history.

The Democrats may be in the White House---but even President Clinton can't ruin this country in only four years, proclaims Rush. Conservatism's most outspoken champion, Rush leads the charge to embrace and defend the fundamental values that have shaped the American character---the same values that cause liberals to have conniptions. Ever the optimist, Rush sees the "pernicious liberal movement" as a philosophy whose inevitable demise will lead us back to the values that made America great.

The artifact is found seven miles below the surface of the sea and beneath 40 more feet of sand. The Navy's efforts to raise a wrecked submarine uncover it - and set in motion a scientific race to retrieve it, to discover just what it is and where it came from. Denser than any substance known to man, it has broken every drill bit they've tried on it and will not budge an inch. It resists every effort to breach it - or communicate with it.
