Historia
As an ancient Celtic warrior, Talon made one giant mistake— he killed the son of the war god Camulus. In anger and outrage, Camulus cursed him—Everyone Talon loved would die a horrible death in front of his eyes. But when Talon's clan slaughters his young sister while he watches, powerless to stop them, he sells his soul for vengeance against them. Two thousand years later in modern-day New Orleans, as part of the bargain he made, he's now an immortal protector who keeps mankind safe from the creatures who would prey on them.

More lore than I ever expected
Revisado: 04-17-25
In a short book, there has been more lore than I could ever expect. But NOTHING is forced. It’s all natural. Like a web that keeps growing. I’m so grateful to listen to this and experience what a good romance series should be.

Historia
Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day. As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and onto the world. She taught me to love again.

I don’t normally read romance
Revisado: 04-07-25
For someone who almost always reads fantasy, and as a guy, I was skeptical about this series when my friend recommended it to me. Honestly I am so grateful I chose to start it because I’m going to tear through the whole series

Never enough to read
Revisado: 03-02-24
Angus Donald to me is the best example of an author who knows how to make you ask “yeah I know he survives, but how in the HELL does Alan survive this???” Over and over. And it never feels forced or like he has plot armor. Well done.

Historia
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

Better than anything I could’ve hoped for
Revisado: 01-23-24
We all know why you are here to listen to this story. What you don’t know is how well this story will show you purpose, fervor, and above all: hope in your own life.
Artyom and his story is like an Odyssey as well as a deconstructed version of the heroes journey story we all know so well. Prepare for a terrifying analytical ride through hell; and how even in the darkest of places, there is light. Carry the fire my friends. Do not give in to Nihilism.

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

One of the greatest books
Revisado: 09-11-23
I’ve listened to this book at least once a year since 2019, where I listened to it touring the UK. Ever since it has been one of my favorite companions during hard times. Pat, if you are reading this. You’ve got this. We as your fans can be rabid I know, but it’s because you’ve lit a fire in our hearts with your books. Thank you.

Do not read
Revisado: 08-20-23
This book is for people who want to think all of the time, who want to work. Who want success. Who wants to wake up before dawn. It’s ok if you do not want that, because you will probably not make it through this book without being bored. I am sure there are other books to occupy your precious time.

Just finished the series
Revisado: 08-19-23
I came back after finishing the series and I have this to say:
I have few words, but I will try.
There are thousands of books out there, hundreds of series. But I’m so grateful I listened to this series. It truly is one of the best I’ve ever had the fortune of reading. If you ever consider one series from the next, I tell you this one should take high priority. Historically accurate legends are something I enjoy but I can be very picky about. This delivered tenfold. But better, are the heartstrings this series played with. This is one of those series you will start and won’t slog through, but jump at the chance to continue. And now that it is over, I feel like I have just put down a friend to be buried. Sure I can revisit anytime I want, but never will it be for the first time.

Thank you
Revisado: 08-13-23
I wish I could thank this author personally. Not only has he written a series that makes sense, never seems to get boring, and frankly is one of the best series I’ve listened to in a long time; but also because this series has been a companion in a way as I have grown in the past few years. When I first started listening to this story I was very much like Alan, poor and a nobody. Now, I’m getting an education, I have a good job, a home, and soon I hope a woman who will be my wife. It means the world to me to have a book series that scratches that niche itch of a historically accurate retelling of a legend. But this series I now realize means so much more. If you are reading this Mike, thank you for your time and effort. It was worth it

High test historical fantasy
Revisado: 06-25-23
I have a niche love for historical fantasy, the kind of niche that Robert E Howard filled. You can’t even imagine my excitement when I found out about this book series. It’s got everything. History and mythology all rolled expertly into one. I started listening thinking it was about just a Bronze Age Demi-God. I was pleasantly surprised to find out who exactly that Demi-God turned out to be. Can’t wait for the next book.
