One of the best Bosch books in the series.

Well worth the read. Bosch is not as central as he is in other books, but makes no difference. Exciting and interesting

Historia
An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

Whether you are for or against the death penalty, this is a well written NOVEL. Plenty of tension, good character development, interesting characters and kept my interest from beginning to end. Well worth the read. Also, it might make one think!

Historia
Virgil's always been known for having a somewhat active, er, social life, but he's probably not going to be getting too many opportunities for that during his new case. While competing in a fishing tournament in a remote area of northern Minnesota, he gets a call from Lucas Davenport to investigate a murder at a nearby resort.

John Carr, a.k.a. Oliver Stone - once the most skilled assassin his country ever had - stands in Lafayette Park in front of the White House, perhaps for the last time. The president has personally requested that Stone serve his country again on a high-risk, covert mission. Though he's fought for decades to leave his past career behind, Stone has no choice but to say yes. Then Stone's mission changes drastically before it even begins.

Bad, bad, bad. Incredible plot, too many 'convenient' explanations without support. This author has gone steadily downhill, in my opinion. Skip it.

Too much Smarta** (Don't want to get censored)
Revisado: 09-30-10
The constant smartassedness (to coin a phrase) made it more and more difficult to listen to the story and Scott Brick. He overdid what DeMille started. Too much sarcasm/smart ass is too much, even for a New Yorker. I think this book would have been better in print, rather than having to listen to it, but oh yeah, it's hard to read while driving ... ya know, texting is bad enough! I am about 85% of the way through - I will finish it, oh yeah, I paid for it, so I better. I gave it two stars, but am not sure why. Story was predictable, the beginning episode is implausible (I asked a couple of doctors...) so... take it for what it's worth.

Historia
The Republicans are coming to St. Paul for their convention. Throwing a big party is supposed to be fun, but crashing the party are a few hard cases the police would rather have stayed away. Chief among them is a crew of professional stick-up men who've spotted several lucrative opportunities, ranging from political moneymen with briefcases full of cash to that armored-car warehouse with the weakness in its security system.

Not that wicked
Revisado: 06-09-09
Two distinct subplots with little connection between them. One was excellent, the other was OK. Probably neither was enough for a complete novel, so ...
But, I always enjoy Sandford's books, especially the Prey series. I 'prey' that he'll write more of them.

Divine Waste of Time
Revisado: 01-14-09
A camel is a horse designed by a committee - this book is a book written by a group of high school students. A waste of time. So shallow, so predictable, so contrived, so characterless. It was a struggle to finish it. Annabelle should be called Clarabelle and the rest of the characters are so unreal.
Save your time.

Pronunciation Rules
Revisado: 08-22-08
A pretty good story, but why, oh why, can't the producer/director or whoever is responsible get a reader who can properly pronounce French, Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian and Italian words, all of which are part of the story? A 'chupah' is not a 'chewpaw', etc., etc. It is most annoying and disrupts the flow of the story. The same problem exists with other readers of some other of his books (not all) -- and it's a shame.

A Dead Book and Should Stay That Way
Revisado: 12-12-07
Just plain bad. And the reader made it worse. I have listened to all of PC's Scarpetta books, and this one doesn't even come close to her worst previous book, that wasn't that bad at all. In this one, by destroying a character (who shall remain nameless) the author destroyed herself. The central theme is beyond credulity. I am not even sure she wrote it! It's jumpy, contrived, convoluted, just not up to snuff. It was a chore to listen to.

Historia
A body has been found on the overlook near Mulholland Drive. The victim, identified as Dr. Stanley Kent, has two bullet holes in the back of his head, from what looks like an execution-style shooting. LAPD detective Harry Bosch is called out to investigate. As soon as Bosch begins retracing Dr. Kent's steps, contradictions emerge. While Kent doesn't seem to have had ties to organized crime, he did have access to dangerous radioactive substances from just about every hospital in Los Angeles County.

A misdirection from his usual involved and developed plot and story line. Bosch is getting slow...
