Authentic and Inspiring
Revisado: 03-19-25
I'm not sure what I expected but this book surpassed it. Mr. Pitts did an outstanding job sharing his love story. He definitely demonstrates trusting God does not mean hiding your emotions. His willingness to share something so personal will serve as an inspiration for anyone dealing with grief or loss.

Greatness and mediocrity are separated by one thing--how you respond to rejection. People who crumble beneath the weight of rejection never realize their full potential, but people who learn to use rejection as a catalyst experience fulfillment in their lives.

I came across this book a completing after the reading plan on the Bible App. I was Recently let go from my job and want to guard my heart against resentment and anger.
I love how Ms. Jones bravely shared some painful events if her past and supported her understanding of rejection with scripture.
The reflection questions are great for digging deeper.

Historia
Just when 17-year-old Matt thinks he can't handle one more piece of terrible news, he meets a girl who’s dealt with a lot more - and who just might be able to clue him in on how to rise up when life keeps knocking him down - in this wry, gritty novel from the author of When I Was the Greatest. Matt wears a black suit every day. No, not because his mom died - although she did, and it sucks.

Relational Intelligence is your action plan for getting smart about your purpose partners. Relationships were God's idea, writes Daniels, and when we understand and apply what God has to say about them we end up avoiding unnecessary relational turmoil, advancing in all areas of our life, and accomplishing our God-given purpose. When your purpose is on the line, the cost of relational unintelligence is too great to pay. In this audiobook, you will explore and learn how to activate the relational intelligence you need for the life of purpose you want.

Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery's never been there, but she's heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age 17. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now, Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. The town is picture-perfect, but it's hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone has declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing.

Plot Twists
Revisado: 11-08-23
Every time I thought I knew what was coming next, there was a twist. The author did a great job weaving the past with the contemporary. It sometimes felt like an after-school movie and sometimes like a teen drama series.
All in all, it was enthralling and hard to put down/turn off.

Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is 12 hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story. Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that.

Captivating
Revisado: 01-21-23
I loved the format of the book. The intermittent vignettes were distracting at first but they give the reader a glance into the characters motivation. I also loved how the characters were interconnected.
The narration was decent. Not a fan of Natasha's nasaly voice.

Historia
Fifteen-year-old Diamond stopped going to school the day she was expelled for lashing out at peers who constantly harassed and teased her for something everyone on the staff had missed: she was being trafficked for sex. After months on the run, she was arrested and sent to a detention center for violating a court order to attend school. Just 16 percent of female students, Black girls make up more than one-third of all girls with a school-related arrest.

As an educator it was interesting and convicting to consider how young ladies are marginalized on school systems. I found myself reflecting on my own experiences as well my interactions with students who don't fit conventional expectations . This book is even more relevant today as our young ladies grapple with the effects of the pandemic and social media. This book was recommended to me and now I will recommend it to others.
