Just ok
Revisado: 03-23-25
It was ok. Too much walking around and talking. Too many repeats of certain phrases. I couldn't relate to the main character. Everyone is crying, teary eyed, about to cry and self loathing. The main character is just too prideful. I wanted to love this book. I honestly almost DNFd in the first 30 minutes. It feels too similar to other books I've read. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the tone, flow, word choice .... I want to make an assumption but will keep it to myself.

Say hello to the new and improved Clyde Hatchett...who's only a level-four nothing. He's on a (seemingly never-ending) quest to get back to his life in Glaton. And now, all that stands in his way are the Empire-hating Carchedonians, a death cult, and a traitorous party member. Oh, and a mythical city that very probably doesn't exist.

Another side story
Revisado: 02-20-25
These last few books are all essentially the same. This is super stupid. I'm so sorry. It is pretty much the same story over and over. Why is there so much unnecessary chatter when there's supposed to be a dire matter of urgency? Why does Clyde ALWAYS trip over his feet when he doesn't need to? Why does he always entertain people that waste his time talking and talking when they should he running? I don't think I'm going to continue after this one. So glad these were free through audible. I'd be very upset if I paid for the last 4. Thank goodness the narrator is awesome!

Follow Clyde on his continuing adventures, as he gets back to Glaton - wait, he promised to visit the City of Darkness. Right. City of Darkness and then back to Glaton. Except...wait. What's wrong with the small coastal town of Furtaxo? Okay, first Furtaxo. If Clyde can get that mystery figured out, then he can move on to the next quest.

Meh, these last 3 books are money grabs
Revisado: 02-15-25
This series started out amazing! Each book kept getting better until around book 4 or 5. At that point it became a series of side quests and short stories. I honestly forgot what the plot was about. I cannot stand when main character have no development. This is LitRPG, specifically designed around growing and evolving. But what's even more irritating is when the reader knows what's about to happen before the MC.
**Kind of a spoiler**
Like how does the author have the MC describe another character as a sleezy slimeball then have him completely ignore him? Trust him with his life and things. Not on guard or anything. AND it's not like MC doesn't know he should be on guard. Like focusing all around, not one specific area. NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Makes no sense. What was the point in describing the character that way to then do nothing with the information? And it happens more than one in all of the books like COME ON. At this point the last 3 books could have been combined. There is one more audiobook after this that is free on Audible and after that I guess I won't know the outcome. I refuse to pay for what seems to be money grabs as the books are now starting to go downhill.
Thank God for the narrator. He literally saves this series and only barely.

Historia
Clyde Hatchett has known he's had a corpse-king inside him, slowly trying to take over his body and raise an army of undead for a while now. And while that may seem like a rather, um, urgent matter to attend to, it's only now, after being forced out of Glaton by his best friends and then having to rescue someone's sister from a bad marriage, that he's actually in a place to deal with it. And he better deal with it quickly, since his entire left hand is starting to look like it belongs to the Crypt-Keeper.

Revisado: 02-14-25
I don't hate it but I don't love it. It was a good different story but it doesn't seem like he's growing as a character. Clyde seems the same which I suppose makes sense with what he has going on but still. Not sure how I feel about this one.

I love the series! Captivating story with an awesome narrator. This book is my least favorite of the ones I've read read. I'm sure it's necessary but it felt like a filler book. When will he accept he's not on earth anymore?

Clyde Hatchett and the rest of the Skull & Thrones better play their cards right - otherwise their newly formed guild will fall in a war with the Iron Silents, the overpowered immortals fond of spawn-camping and, well, anything that puts them ahead. So much for resting on laurels, huh?

No one telling Clyde what to do. No one.... You have been offered a quest by the Biscuit's Union: Rebuild the Guild. Reform the guild by having at least eight members in good standing by the end of one week.

Historia
"Has your life here been so difficult? You seem to fail upward at every opportunity." So says Careena, the hag teaching Clyde Hatchett how to use magic. It certainly doesn't feel like that to Clyde, who's still got a day job scraping mud (at least he hopes it's mud) out of monster pits. And yet, Clyde's found himself at the center of a massive conspiracy to kill the Emperor. He's the only one with proof that could save the man, and take down an entire network of corrupt nobles, evil slavers, and power-hungry despots.

Historia
Just yesterday, Ben was a petty criminal getting by on fleecing New York’s one-percenters. Today, he's got a new face, a new name, and a new world to navigate. And Ben’s thinking maybe this time around, he’ll use his skills at disarming and deceiving to help out people other than himself. Maybe. Watching a medieval City Guard fight off a 20-foot-tall ooze that crawled up from the sewers will make you think twice about life decisions.

Historia
He was born anew in a world where martial arts were indistinguishable from magic. He only received a neuronet and meaningless desires from his past life. What lies ahead? He dreamed of adventure and freedom, but those dreams were taken away from him. The same way his mother, father, and sister had been taken away. They took the kingdom, they took his own destiny. But he is willing to wage a war, against the whole world if need be, to bring everything back.

Great story but the narrator kinda ruined it for me
Revisado: 12-16-24
I'm so sorry to the narrator but the audible swallows are too much. Maybe stop recording before you swallow.....idk...If they were less frequent it wouldn't have been so bad. But they happened too often, along with what sounds like licking his lips. It was really distracting and hard for me to finish the book. I had to rewind to hear what I missed but had to hear the swallow again.
For me, it's like nails on a chalkboard.
The story was a good one. I definitely enjoyed the perspective of the main character, especially as a baby lol!
