Historia
TJ Devlin is the charming disappointment in the prominent Devlin family, all of whom are lawyers at their highly successful firm—except him. After a stint in prison and rehab for alcoholism, TJ can’t get hired anywhere except at the firm, in a make-work job with the title of investigator. But one night, TJ’s world turns upside down after his older brother John confesses that he murdered one of their clients, an accountant he’d confronted with proof of embezzlement. It seems impossible coming from John, the firstborn son and Most Valuable Devlin.

Worth a Credit
Revisado: 03-26-25
I believe this is the first book of Lisa Scottoline I have listened to and I found it very enjoyable. There were a few things that I thought were stretching the boundaries of believability, but 'Hey! It's fiction.' I would certainly listen to another of her books.

OK
Revisado: 03-11-25
Not bad. Not good. Too much emphasis on John Rain’s testosterone and not enough on the storyline. Not horrible, but more the kind of book you are eager to see the end arriving.

Historia
Nate Overbay, a former soldier suffering from PTSD and ALS, goes to an 11th-floor bank and climbs out the bathroom window onto the ledge, ready to end it all. But as he’s steeling himself to jump, a crew of gunmen bursts into the bank and begins viciously shooting employees and customers. With nothing to lose, Nate climbs back inside, confronts the robbers, and with his military training, starts taking them out, one by one. The last man standing leaves Nate with a cryptic warning: “He will make you pay in ways you can’t imagine.” Soon enough, Nate learns what this means.

Good but . . .
Revisado: 02-26-25
Decent book. I enjoyed most of it, but a couple of things would keep it off my "Must Read" list. First, the main character's daughter was so totally obnoxious that it was impossible really care what happens to her. Also, the ALS the main character was experiencing progressed way too fast to be believable. On the plus side, the narrator did his usual excellent job.

Historia
Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit have discovered a van at the bottom of a murky Florida pond. Sealed inside the watery tomb are the bodies of four teenagers who disappeared 30 years ago after leaving a rock concert. To authorities, it looks like a tragic accident. To Sloan, it looks like murder. Every piece of evidence is starting to connect to a string of cold case vanishings throughout Florida. Clue by clue, Sloan navigates the warm, dark waters where natural predators feed, knowing that the most dangerous one is still above the surface - nesting and dormant.

Historia
Mead House was once our childhood home. Despite my fears, I always knew we would have to return to face the demons of our past. Back to the place where it happened, to where, as carefree teenagers, we lost our elder sister in the most brutal of circumstances. As executors of our grandmother’s will, my twin brother, Ollie, and I needed to empty the house for resale. What I didn’t expect to discover was my sister’s secret journal that contained her most private thoughts and shocking dark secrets.

A distress call draws rescuers Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit to a cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale that’s sinking from a mysterious explosion. When it appears to be the work of an ecoterrorist and other ships are threatened, it becomes a race against time. More clues are discovered, and evidence is in danger of being washed away by a coming tropical storm. Sloan grows concerned that key details are being ignored, and a strange lack of urgency by authorities sets off alarms.

Love the Cray-Blackwood combo. This was entertaining enough to keep me listening, but not enough to keep me deeply invested in the plot. Worth the credit, but not a 'must have.'

Historia
This is the book you've been looking for: a deep, dark conspiracy that should delight those who loved the Jason Bourne movies, as well as fans of authors Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, and Stephen Hunter. You won't believe what happens when free speech slams into the messy realities of national security. Meet Nick Woods, a former Marine Scout Sniper, who used to be one of our country's greatest operatives. Meet Allen Green, a ballsy reporter in his fifties, who's desperate to break the biggest story since Watergate.

Revisado: 01-18-25
This is what I would call a recipe book. You put in a little of this and a little of that, bake it a bit and you have your dish. It's not bad. It's not great. Bottom line is: you know where it's going and pretty much how it's going to get there and you just go along for the ride. Jay Snyder does he's usual excellent narration and helps to make the final dish worth eating.
