Potentially helpful to a newbie
Revisado: 01-16-24
The information is for the most part lovely and may be helpful to someone new to reiki. However, the performance is silted and saccharine (AI?) and I would not recommend this book because of the monotone performance. Though this book is not identified as having been translated into English, there are a number of poorly translated idioms that distract the listener and distort the intention (‘mouth to mouth’ is used to express ‘word of mouth’).

Singer’s wisdom is soothing, inspiring, compassionate and non-judgmental. The author’s narration made it feel like he was talking to me personally like I would with a friend. This is book of wisdom that I will gratefully return to often.

One more perspective to empowerment
Revisado: 10-09-23
In my unexpected encounter with an unhealthy partner (undiagnosed NPD/BPD) my journey that helped me identify what I was dealing with led me to dedicatedly (you might say “devour”!) listen and read as much as I could—to become informed. armed with tools to protect myself and to begin the process of restoring trust in myself that the NPD had so cunningly eroded. Sooooo…I leave no book on the subject unread!
Imho, this book—though offering helpful insights—is a good “cliff-notes” style, quick overview for someone who has read a lot on the subject. If you want to know what the author is going to share, the Conclusion chapter is a good place to start and indeed the book’s summary. Before writing this review I read a number of other reviews that referenced “recovery or healing from” NPD, however, this book doesn’t offer or even promise that—the author does however, offer up some helpful suggestions of who to see (trauma informed counselor) that could help lead to recovery.
The narrator’s performance is pretty “clinical” in that the delivery is emotionally void of drama or personal interpretation. I’d call it “flat”, but in a good way bc no one fact or experience is given higher emphasis to influence the listener. That said, if this were my first book on NPD, I would have lost focus.

Powered through this because….
Revisado: 07-03-22
The content is good, but…if you have any boundaries around the “unnecessary” use of curse words to get a point across - your boundaries will definitely and repetitively be crossed. Whew! I powered through the listen as if I were hacking my way through a thatch to get to the ‘other end’…dodging the thickets of foul verbiage in hopes of still gleaning helpful insights. It was exhausting LOL - But, worth the (free audible) adventure.

Good info for starters
Revisado: 02-05-22
The information provided was very useful, though having read numerous books on narcissism, it offered a “new voice” versus new insights for me. The one difficult thing almost made me stop listening (especially in the 1st couple of chapters)was the occasionally scratchy and shaking voice of the reader. It may have been an electronic audible issue that seemed to resolve as I stuck it thru the end.

Like millions of women, Eve Ensler has been waiting much of her lifetime for an apology. Sexually and physically abused by her father, Eve has struggled her whole life from this betrayal, longing for an honest reckoning from a man who is long dead. After years of work as an anti-violence activist, she decided she would wait no longer; an apology could be imagined, by her, for her, to her.

Brilliant—though not for the faint of heart
Revisado: 12-15-21
WOW!!! A very powerful and horrifically detailed accounting that caused my heart to wail & weep and cry for the author and all the Eve’s within every survivor. The perspective and accounting from the perpetrators’ view was truly brutal and equally masterful. The father’s voice is written with operatic and grandiose tones that compels the listener to stay the disturbing course to the end.
I highly recommend the book with one bit of advice: stop reading if you sense you are being re-traumatized. This is not for the faint of heart.
The performance is stellar—Bravo!

On point!!
Revisado: 09-18-21
I have read a number of books on Narcs and in MHO, this was by far the “best”. The information is laid out very clearly and easy to understand and, the uncanny ‘life-replaying-itself’ was on point to what I have experienced with the Narc partner in my life. The author’s advice to begin focusing on your own healing (and stop focusing on the Narc or trying to find solutions for the Narc), was precisely what Narc-targets need to hear—timely!

A light-read that, if you liked the movie (Princess Bride), will warm the heart, make you smile and laugh out loud. It’s a book you can stop and start (great for short commutes). Great performances by all; very gentle and loving...just like the movie.

Timely wisdom and insight
Revisado: 01-04-20
This book came into my awareness...perfectly timed as I began to sit on the “edge of awakening” with a childhood friend on hospice. Truly and deeply grateful for the wisdom, love and fearlessness expressed by Ram Dass and Mirabai about dying and death. If there was anything missing it was just that there are no chapter titles, but not a big issue given the depth of insight.
