Amazing, Amazing, Perfection
Revisado: 01-24-22
Wow...this book kept me enthralled. I couldn't stop listening and then the last hour I was so sad because it would soon be over. The twists and turns are amazing! Caroline Lee's performance was perfection as always. I hope this also goes to screen like Big LIttle Lies and Small Fires Burning Everywhere.

Historia
A heartwarming, uplifting village romance for fans of Holly Martin, Tilly Tennant and Cathy Bramley. Buying a thatched cottage in the country may not be the usual cure for a broken heart. But after Clara Maxwell finds out her boyfriend and best friend have been sneaking around behind her back, packing her bags and leaving everything in London behind feels like it's the only way forward. When Henry Garnett, her (rather handsome) new contractor, turns up with his little daughter Pansy and a van shaped like a cottage in tow, she isn't sure whether to laugh or cry.

Authors are not good narrators
Revisado: 10-26-21
The readers can make or break an audio book. She is monotone and awkward. Please authors hire a good narrator.

This transcendent story follows four college friends who move to New York City, buoyed by ambition: Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, an artist; Malcolm, an architect; and, at the center, Jude, a withdrawn, brilliant attorney haunted by an unspeakable past. Through decades of shared and separate lives, Jude’s suffering - and its impact on those who love him - raises questions about the limits of human endurance, the possibility for redemption, and the meaning of friendship.

Amazing writing - warning - tears ahead
Revisado: 09-26-18
I have an accounting task at work that is really kind of boring and so if I listen to an audible book it makes it tolerable....until today while I sit at my desk trying to swallow the sobs as the tears roll down my cheeks. I can't describe this book really except it is a story that will have a long-lasting impact on me. It does show the power of human survival and love.

Historia
Cornwall, 1818. We continue the tale of Ross and Demelza; of the wayward Valentine Warleggan, whose existence keeps open the old wounds of the feud between Ross and George; of Bella, the Poldarks' youngest daughter, whose precocious talent as a singer is encouraged by her old flame, Christopher Havergal, and by a distinguished French conductor who has more in mind than Bella's music; of Clowance, the Poldarks' widowed daughter, who considers remarriage to one of two rival suitors; and of a murderer who stalks the villages of West Cornwall.

I can't believe it's OVER
Revisado: 09-04-18
I've listened to all 12 books - straight through and watched the 3 seasons of Poldark. When this book ended yesterday I cried! 240 hours of being with the Poldark family ended way too soon. I wish there would have been a nice synopsis of what happened in the future to all the major characters instead of just Bella. This series could go on for a few more books - at least until Ross and Deleza die! Today I feel a homesick like feeling - the first drive to work without them in quite some time.

Poldark is the best series ever!
Revisado: 07-15-18
I am a bit disappointed in myself did reading ahead of the Masterpiece series but it is just too long in between each season! It could go on for many years! I keep that the villains will get their due but Graham doesn't take the happily ever after approach. I wish there were 20 more books in the series. I shall be heartbroken when the last book ends.

Best Performance Ever!!
Revisado: 07-23-17
Where does The Good House rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Amazing reader!
What did you like best about this story?
Mary Beth Hurt was so amazing as the reader. I really believed that I was listening to her autobiography because she is so good! I really hated for the book to end. About Chapter 18 my heart started racing and I would find I was driving faster to make the story go faster! It was enlightening about how people rationalize bad decisions - not just alcoholics! I need to find more books read by Mary Beth now!
What does Mary Beth Hurt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I thought she was actually Hilde Good - she is amazing.
