Historia
There's a stranger in town, and he just wants to be left alone. But Dockside doesn't like strangers, and the dirty old town never leaves anyone alone. Not emotionally scarred top-secret ex-army cyborgs, and certainly not good cops with bad habits. Join New Boston's most famous fixer for his first week in the most dangerous part of town. All he wanted was a quiet place to hide, but now he has to team up with the last good cop in Dockside if they expect to stop a gang war and protect the hard-working folks just trying to make an honest living.

This was a short but excellent story , and I like that it wasn't pretentious or overblown. It's just a taste of the world , Enough to whet the appetite for the advenures . Makes a great car listen or plane listen, Gives a backgrounder on the good guy to hate Rodney and the world.

The Crash Landing the Series deserves !
Revisado: 03-04-25
The most satisfying conclusion to what turns out to be an over ten book saga I have ever read, not a lightly given title. This is it folks , sudden death overtime for everyone. All the characters have spent thier experience and are on the field in full badass mode. I will not post spoilers except to say that even earth isn't gonna be the same after this one. It stays on course and doesn't spare the horses . And save a few tears for Boston .
Please give this a read , but only after reading evereything else in the series ... cause the are more answers in this one than I ever would have expected and with NO talking head infodumps. I can't say how refreshing it was to have a sci fi series this good wrap up so brilliantly- and I used to be a librarian so I've read a lot ! The author kicked some ass through the whole series and desrves some laurels for this.
Also my hat is off to the narrator who has done some S tier narration throughout this series !
Para Bellum Readers !

A solid, well written and satisfying read !
Revisado: 03-04-25
This one hits on a lot of notes, and I have to say plays merry havok with the whole cast . The story is begining to end powerfully done, although I have to say that for once I was fairly sure that the whole crew was coming out unharmed . Never the less no one gets anything they expected out of this save one, but I won't say who that is. The afterward was very unexpected and let's you know exactly how deep the s^&* storm that is raining dowb is gonna get. This was great fun and you definitely need the early books to appreciate the depth of what's happening. If you didn't already know the cast you can still enjoy it , I've had a friend listen in and they became a very late convert.
Buy this one then let er' rip.

Roland Tankowicz is not a complex man. After securing victory over The Brokerage, all he wants is to get back to work maintaining the balance of power in Dockside. He’s perfectly happy with an honest day’s work of busting heads followed by a quick jaunt over to his favorite bar for a beer. Too bad the universe has other plans.

I was wirried for nothing it's GREAT next arc
Revisado: 01-26-25
I was very worried , since most stories fall apart once you hit a major plot arc's end , imagine my delight to find the new book opened an excing new chapter in the Fixer's life and the lives of his team. Thie story hits the right blend of story and action with a host of new and old characters making an appearance. Roland faces off with a new breed of enemy and an old one as well. Thier is battle on a dozen levels here, and this is not just a few slugfests. It has some dark cyberpunk humor , some great sci fi action, ortillry strikes, we get some proper space combat, and lots of fun all around. New readers can even start here without an issue if thats your thing , I've gotten a few people who hadn't read it before to fall right in.
I won't drop any spoilers but expect things to get KINETIC ! Oh and some unexpected romance as well...

This book is a brand new take on all the characters you never got a stylish story on. It is full of heart, and really embraces both the cyberpunk he a heart of the genre and a wry sence of humor. I am normally pretty critical of these kinds of books, but this one is brilliant. please give it a try, it has great pacing and some amazing tales to tell!

It takes a brave soul to mess with Dockside. Roland Tankowicz has made a career out of teaching this lesson, and the galaxy is starting to notice. Yet despite filling entire graveyards with corporate raiders, pirates, criminal organizations, and the occasional marauding cybernetic psychopath, somebody out there still thinks the lucrative district is worth harassing.

The book is a hard hitting gem , and brings most of the boiling plots to a frithing finish. This book is great, but do not listen to it before you've gotten the back story ie the First 5 books ! Very satisfying , and I can't wait for it to become a movie one day . Everybody makes thier move and damn it all works .

Historia
My name is Opal Yong-ae, and I’m a Cleaner. At least, I used to be. Thanks to the supernatural bad luck that turns everything I do against me, these days I’m more of a walking disaster. Getting rid of this curse is the only way to get my life back. Unfortunately, dragon magic is every bit as sneaky and deadly as the monsters behind it, and just as hard to beat.

a remarkable sequel
Revisado: 09-30-24
Sequels often suffer from power creep of the protagonist being barely recognisable, this bood had neither. Very good characturizations and good but believable growth given the books 5 week timframe. the voicework was excellent again and it was a fun ride. Give th series a try!

Different Flavor same Dish
Revisado: 08-25-24
The tales from the Fantom files are far from the usual run and gun tales of thier American counterpoints but I love that . Different countries , different regions SHOULD feel different . They have different governments , different languages , different perspectives. The characters feel very real , and feel as different as any other group of professionals in the very eccentric and prideful field. As someone who has traveled and lived briefly in a few countries I adored experiencing a different take on the Monster Hunter universe , from characters that AREN'T the Chosen Champions fighting for the fate of the universe. These are the other guys , just monster hunting pros trying to deal with the horrors of the monster world and thier own governments. It isn't Gun Porn , which was a little sad for readers of Larry who always want the nitty gritty of the hunters. But the translation reads really well which is rarely the case in books that migrate languages. There are guns aplenty and there is no derth of fights .
I enjoyed the different characters and enjoyed and pace. The combats were still good and the action well paced with wry humor , which was dark and very real. Also there was a bounty of ideas for anyone running a MHI campaign at home.
But remember it's like any other countries interpretation of a familiar dish, it's gonna be different , but keep an open mind you might love it , so give a shot. Also it is really nice to get completely out of the core 18 characters for a while .

Historia
Hugh had been taught that, according to the ancient sacred writings, the Ship was on a voyage to faraway Centaurus. But he also understood this was just allegory for a voyage to spiritual perfection. Indeed, how could the Ship move, since its miles and miles of metal corridors were all there was of creation? Science knew that the Ship was all the universe, and as long as the sacred Converter was fed, the lights would continue to glow, the air would flow, and the Creator's Plan would be fulfilled.

so many modern sci fi tropes were born here
Revisado: 04-17-24
I can barely imagine how mind blowing this may have been when it first came out! The story is quick and his hard, and it is easy to see that elements of this story have become tropes of fiction. it tells the story of a young scout discovering the true nature of his world, and the end of it. The narrative style is all action and ideas, so those looking for either a revenge story or an epic romance will be unhappy. those wanting hard science will find that this story does apply a lot of hand waving to cut to the tale itself. this is classic genre sci fi at it's most essential and should be enjoyed as such. note: if cannibalism is s personal fear of yours DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. If you ever played Metamorphosis Alpha or the classic Barrier Peaks module for D&D you can see where the serial numbers were filed off from! Definitely a must listen for post apocalypse sci fi writers. The only real beef was the narrator never seemed to use any kind of voice work beyond a perfect neutral reading voice, but it was crystal clear and nothing was hard to understand. I have to say it was done well just a little dry for the modern palette. Good eating er uh reading to you!

the readers were dynamite
Revisado: 03-25-24
the story is fun weird, with the creep factor of a classic 80s chose your own adventure book, with a modern twist. The humor is dry and dark in the vein of python. I like it but the ending needed work. the readers were excellent and overall it's a good low intensity horror tale.
