Historia
Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

Frank Szatowski is shocked when his daughter, Maggie, calls him for the first time in three years. He was convinced that their estrangement would become permanent. He’s even more surprised when she invites him to her upcoming wedding in New Hampshire. Frank is ecstatic, and determined to finally make things right. He arrives to find that the wedding is at a private estate—very secluded, very luxurious, very much out of his league. It seems that Maggie failed to mention that she’s marrying Aidan Gardner, the son of a famous tech billionaire.

Phenomenal Narration. Captivating Story.
Revisado: 01-08-25
I could not stop listening to this audiobook! John Pirhalla did incredible work with the numerous characters. I really liked his approach to voicing the many female characters and the male characters were all highly distinguishable. The plot of the story with its twists and turns had me hooked. The character development was full and rich. Great thriller. I recommend it 100%!

Descriptive writing and gripping narration.
Revisado: 09-23-24
Hate House is a chilling, psychological horror novel that drags you, along with the main character, deep into the abyss of madness. With its unexpected twists, vivid imagery, and disturbing scenes, this audiobook takes the listener on a visceral ride through the darkest recesses of the human mind as well as through the decaying mansion in which this story takes place.
Linda Jones heightens the tension with her expert, steady narration. The main character is portrayed believably as a rather tough, unfazed, and strong woman, with secrets of her own. But as we watch her unraveling, we see how vulnerable she really is. Jones captures the essence of the remaining characters with vocal diversity and authentic emotion.

Historia
Margaret Murphy is a weaver of fantastic tales, growing up in a world where the truth is too much for one little girl to endure. Her first memory is of the day her friend Agnes died. No one blames Margaret. Not in so many words. Her mother insists to everyone who will listen that her daughter never even left the house that day. Left alone to make sense of tragedy, Margaret wills herself to forget these unbearable memories, replacing them with imagined stories full of faith and magic—that always end happily.

Poetry
Revisado: 02-22-24
This book drew me in with the most lovely poetic language and beautiful but eerie imagery. The feelings evoked by this tale of guilt, self flagellation, self protection and discovering oneself after a traumatic childhood event, were both touching and curious.
I can’t imagine anyone performing this book better than Sophie Amoss. She captured every character’s attitude and revealed their inner workings so deftly. Her voice was mesmerizing and a little spooky as Poor Deer. We felt the burden that Margaret felt of being haunted by her and chastised throughout her life by Poor Deer.
If you’ve ever felt grief or guilt, this a whisper in your ear you should hear.

Mesmerizing
Revisado: 02-15-23
I don’t normally read or listen to westerns so I was pleasantly surprised by this incredible saga. I loved the slightly formal language of the old west. I loved the beautifully descriptive, cinematic imagery. The performance by Sophie Amoss was so nuanced, so tender and so powerful. She captured the essence of every character, making them authentic and unique. I highly recommend this audiobook beyond genre preference.

Classic and timeless
Revisado: 05-08-20
I saw this play in Cleveland, OH at the age of 11. It was the first professional theater production I had ever seen although I was already deeply in love with theater classes in school. That production stuck with me and impacted my future theater aspirations and will always be special to me. Now, as an audiobook narrator, myself, I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Steinbeck’s gritty and emotion laden story of friendship and sorrow. Gary Sinise performed beautifully and captured every bit of the author’s subtlety and intensity. It’s fun to get to play ALL the parts! LOVE LOVE.

A rich emotional ride
Revisado: 03-07-20
This book takes you into the lives of those who have suffered and lost way too much in the early years of their budding adulthood. I liked how the story alternated between "before" in times of hope and "after" when despair was thick and life- choking. Both narrators, Phil Thron and Natalie Naudus, were just incredible storytellers. They portrayed the pain, the loneliness, the humor, and the love of the two main characters as well as the very defined personalities of the secondary cast. When an audiobook is so good that you have to sit in your car in the grocery store parking lot or your own driveway to finish a chapter, you know it's superbly written and narrated. This audiobook is one of THOSE!

A glimpse of the male enigma
Revisado: 11-22-19
This is a rare foray into the minds and hearts of men in regards to their relationships and deepest feelings towards their loved ones. Fathers and sons grapple with their, often, thorny bond. In nine short stories, we are witness to raw emotions, volatile anger and acute sensitivity with an underlying current of promise. I couldn’t help but draw parallels with aspects of these stories to men in my own life. The narration was world class. Just outstanding. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Cold case detective thriller
Revisado: 11-04-19
I really enjoyed the story and the narration of Olive Park. Two separate stories are told in concert until they collide suspense-fully. One story is of three very different types of detectives who wind up working closely together whether they like it or not. Their relationships are interesting and often contentious. The other story is of a young boy and his 6 yr old sister who are left in neglectful care after the violent deaths of their parents. There are incredibly gritty, grungy and unsavory characters and James Romick does an excellent job of voicing them all. His natural voice is an easy fit for the hard worn, older male detective but he also is so convincing as the psychologically fragile and angry young boy, the 20-something year old eager and fresh female detective and the old carnival fortune teller. Beautifully done. I can’t wait to listen to the next books in the trilogy.
