Natalie Morgen made a name for herself with a memoir about overcoming her harsh childhood after finding a new life in Paris. After falling in love with a classically trained chef, they moved together to his ancestral home, a tiny fishing village off the coast of Brittany. I love WW II historical fiction and though this is a very different kind of novel of the war it is greatI. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful story! I want more!
Revisado: 10-27-22
This is a wonderful story about two adult orphans that meet and the events that follow. One fellow reviewer claimed the story wasn’t about orphans, forgetting the main characters are just that! You will enjoy the story of WW II nurses and doctors working to save bomb victims and the picturesque settings in this novel. The ending though wonderfully written left me wanting more. I’m off to search for the sequel now! Purchase and enjoy!

One of the best books I’ve ever read or listened to. An absolute must for any WW II historical fiction fan. I love all of Natasha’s books, but she hit this one out of the park! Way to go!

Historia
Nazi-occupied Prague, 1942: Amelia is hiding in her closet when flashlights blind her and she’s captured by the SS. Out on the cobblestone street, her heart shatters as her mother is shot before her eyes. She is shoved onto a freight train with hundreds of others—hours pass as they travel in darkness. Arriving in a concentration camp, Amelia fears for her life when she is led to a block by a soldier. He is her enemy, yet he secretly passes her a piece of bread; an act that saves her.

Wonderful Book
Revisado: 11-26-21
I read a lot of WW II books. This one is a great addition to my collection. The narration was great and I enjoyed listening to all characters. Of course it’s a love story and has some pretty far reaching occurrences of things that would never happen, but that’s what romance does is provide escape from reality. The author did a great job of honoring her grandmother. I highly recommend.

Historia
Amelia - 1942: The inside of my closet held the last bit of my freedom before I was torn from my home and shoved onto a dark train. Our destination was even darker. "Women and children to the right. Men to the left," they shouted at us. Everything was taken from me, leaving only the smoke-filled air, piercing screams, and soul-burning cries. I was slowly starved and weakened to the bone, but there was a man - a Nazi - who brought me extra food. He called himself a prisoner too, but he scared me, and I wondered if he was the enemy I should fear the most.

Wow! I’m completely in love with this book!
Revisado: 10-26-21
I didn’t want this book to end. I am in love with all the characters and wanted to continue to hear more about their stories. A sequel that continues the story of the Dress Witch would be a best seller! This is book I already want to read again! The narrators were fantastic and really brought the story to life.
