Good stories, poor narration
Revisado: 02-23-24
Did the narrator read this through before recording? Much interpolation was required in the listening.

Error in summary
Revisado: 02-12-24
The book is fine but there is an error in the book summary. Wren's story takes place in 1987, NOT 1928. I cannot find anywhere in customer support to report the issue. I follow the author on social media and messaging her there may be the only way to correct the error.

Historia
Late October 1909, and the season of ghouls and things that go bump in the night has descended on the village of Littleton Cotterell. Lady Hardcastle and her trusted lady’s maid, Florence, find themselves hosting a colorful cast of actors whose spooky moving picture, The Witch’s Downfall, is being shown to mark Halloween. But things take a macabre turn when the first night’s screening ends with a mysterious murder, and the second night with another. One by one the actors turn up dead in ways that eerily echo their film.

Historia
To the peril of all who accompany him, a salvager sails the globe searching for a creature supposed to have gone extinct before the time of the dinosaurs. Megalodon was the length of a sperm whale with jaws that could swallow an orca. Its teeth that still wash onto distant shores measure six inches from tip to root. How much fame and fortune awaits the one who proves such a monster from the Pleistocene still exists?

Can't even get shark anatomy right?!?
Revisado: 06-02-23
The delivery was terrible. The story was terrible. School is now in: females have cloacas, males have claspers, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
This was maybe halfa$$ effort all the way around.

November 1911. Lady Emily Hardcastle is celebrating her birthday by seeing a play at the Duke’s Theatre in Bristol with her maid and confidante, the inimitable Flo. Act One is a triumph. Then Act Two opens with a body on stage—a real one. One of the cast has been brutally murdered during the interval. When other matters get in the way of Inspector Sunderland overseeing the case himself, he asks the ever-resourceful Lady H to keep a watchful eye on the suspects—and his police colleagues.

Wonderful story as always. However, is "politedly" a word? It seems like a tango between delightedly and politely.

Great Story, Terrible Music
Revisado: 05-30-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend it because the story is good and the narrator does a fine job. It is not one of my favorite King novels but enjoyable.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
At times, the story does lag with unimportant details, but it is certainly one of King's longer works. There are plenty of engaging plot elements.
Have you listened to any of Eli Wallach’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've never listened to any of Wallach's other performances but I enjoyed this one.
Any additional comments?
The music and sound effects are WRETCHED. None at all would have been preferable to the aural torture the listener is subjected to with this audiobook!
