great story line that uses real historical events

overall a great story line that uses real historical events to creat the flow of time which is a nice twist.

only thing that should be revised is that itbwas just released, but the timline is already come and gone in the real world which leaves me thinking this took way longer to produce that it should have, or it needs revised to make it somewhat into the future real time.

that aside, overall a really good book

This is terrible book, plays out as a repeating of black slavery in the far future.

alien robots abduct humans, specifically BLACK humans, who are then forced into manual labor and prostitution where only a few 'breeders' are forced to sleep with all the males in their city regularly and female children are routinely murdered.

stopped at chapter 3, thats all I can take.

despite a hard time getting thru the first book, the pace and action of this book2 is much improved, while still a bit predictable, the narration and character development hold the story and listener to the end.

corporation vs church

space drama about a mega corp of technology vs a church that wants to be omish, but can function without their rivals high tech. that part plays out decently enough, but there was far too much sex and lust, and it was portrayed poorly.

The ending was fairly predictable, choose your job or your species. I will let you live in mental anguish to find out which option wins out

good news, several characters were killed off so book 2 hopefully wont feature them again and we can try again.

I got a free code for the audible version to review.

The story in this first installment is a very solid start to a great adventure. The characters have traits that fit their roles and stations, but also make them unique and contribute to a believable personality and community.

The MC is a driven commoner who works as a server saving her tips and wages to finance her dream of becoming an apprentice wizard. She could have it all given to her being the daughter of a regional warrior hero, but instead this is a story of paying your dues, discipline, trust, and embracing adventure.

Why I recommend the book version? I am a dedicated audible/audiobook listener going thru many books a month, primarily in the fantasy sci-fi genre. This recording was unfortunately done by a voice actor and editor that leaves a lot to be desired.

there are frequent issues where the audio repeats sentences 2-3 times, this is just terrible audio editing, and the voice actor is not good with enunciation and goes too fast turning the speed down to 0.9 helps with the speed at least. being a shorter book I will push thru, but I will be sure to avoid this narrator going forward.

good start to a space series

i received a free code for this book

the story is good and the characters are raw, although the short love element sets up the rest of the story, it was a put off for me as unnecessary. glad it was just a small portion of the setup.

i am not a space environment reader so I wont be continuing the series, but Ibwould say if thats your genre, then by all means go for this book, this one has great potential.
