Enjoyable.
Revisado: 12-24-20
I found this book to be easy to listen to and enjoyable. It also has a good moral, but it was not preachy. The narration is well done. The tone of the book is rather calm for the most part.
There is some violence, but it is not gory. There is no sex or cursing. I would let any but the most sensitive child listen. Someone who has played Minecraft would probably enjoy even more than I did. But even without knowing much of anything about Minecraft, I enjoyed the story.
I recommend this book.

Historia
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

I enjoyed the story. The characters were well done. And Stephen Fry gave a marvelous performance.

Historia
A millennium into the future two advancements have altered the course of human history: the colonization of the galaxy and the creation of the positronic brain. Isaac Asimov's Robot novels chronicle the unlikely partnership between a New York City detective and a humanoid robot who must learn to work together. Like most people left behind on an over-populated Earth, New York City police detective Elijah Baley had little love for either the arrogant Spacers or their robotic companions.

My favorite Asimov Book
Revisado: 11-26-19
I love Isaac Asimov's writing. He has the ability to show both the big story with a complete universe, and develop the characters into real people. That’s a very rare gift.
This is my favorite story among his books. It highlights his insight into people and their foibles. The characters are so well developed that they live in my mind as real people.
It also introduces R. Daneel Olivaw, who is one of my favorite characters from any book.
If you are reading this for the first time, I envy you. I recommend this book and all of the Foundation and Robot books by Asimov wholeheartedly.

My name's Griz. I've never been to school, I've never had friends, and in my whole life I've not met enough people to play a game of football. My parents told me how crowded the world used to be, before all the people went away. But we were never lonely on our remote island. We had each other and our dogs. Then the thief came.

Unbelievably great!
Revisado: 11-01-19
I loved this book. The flow of the writing continued to lead me on and on to the end. The characters are so real I wanted to meet them. The reading was just right. And there were some surprises along the way. It was a beautiful journey.
I would not recommend it for children because there are definite adult issues. And I would warn there is some violence and a few scenes that grossed me out. However, they were integral to the story and not overdone.
If you love terriers as I do, you really need to read this. The author understands the stubborn, feisty, loyal little dogs with big personalities enough to show why some people love them so much. Many books I have read make terriers seem mean or dumb. This story gets it right.
I definitely recommend this book for adults. It is going into my list of favorites to be listened to again and again. It is not your typical dystopian novel.

Historia
Aliens exist...and, as it turns out, most of them aren’t that friendly. Jacob Brown wasn’t even born yet the first time they attacked Earth. He was only 14 the second time it happened. When Earth finally came together and fielded its first spaceborne military, Jacob didn’t hesitate to volunteer. Serving aboard a mighty starship, he’d be able to defend his planet - and his family - when, inevitably, they came again.

Serious Sci Fi
Revisado: 09-17-19
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I have not read Omega Force, but I will try to now.
I do need to state that there is violence, a bit of it rather gory. And there are adult issues. This is not a book for children.
I really enjoyed that it dealt with individual characters without giving up the tech advances that help set the scene for Sci Fi. I loved that the characters were three dimensional with good and bad traits. They felt like real people you could meet anywhere.
I also enjoyed the portrayal of the military chain of command. Having grown up on various bases, that seemed very familiar and true to life.
I would definitely recommend this book for adults who enjoy Sci Fi.

Wonderful, but very sad in spots.
Revisado: 06-30-19
Masterharper Robinton is my favorite character in one of my favorite series of all time. In fact, he is among my all time favorite characters from Amy story. So, with that said, I obviously love the Pern books that are about him.
However, the Pern series is not suitable for children. They do include sex, though usually not explicit. And this one in particular has violence.
I do recommend this book to all adult fans of fantasy. And if you love dragons as much as I do, you need to read the entire Pern series.
I have checked this audio book out of various libraries about a dozen times, and I’m thrilled to finally own it myself.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Good story and great performance.
Revisado: 06-22-19
George Guidall is probably my favorite narrator for audio books. His voice is resonate and pleasing to the ear. And his pronunciation is spot on. His timing is right. And he builds the correct emotions into the reading. It all just comes together to make it easy to listen to the story.
The characters were interesting. I think this book will be with me for a long time.
I don’t think it is appropriate for young children or preteens. The entire theme of the book is an adult issue. There is violence, and discussions about sex. The sex talk is not graphic, but it does happen.
I do recommend this book for adults, and I would challenge you to really think about the general themes presented.

Fun and imaginative.
Revisado: 06-13-19
This story was a bit unbelievable, but still lots of fun. It was full of imagination, and not full of sex or bad language.
I don’t think very young kids would necessarily get it, but I think it would be fine for preteens on up. And since the heros are 11 years old, I think it’s great that it’s that it’s appropriate for that age group.
There is minimal violence,.

Revisado: 06-01-19
Ok. So I’m not a Mark TwIn fan. The only book of his that I really like is 'A Connecticut Yankee in King Arther's Court.' But if you are a fan, this is a collection of all his works I could identify and then some.
The narration is very good, and also soothing for those of us who listen at bedtime.
