Historia
Almost everyone feels stuck in some way. Whether you’re muddling through a midlife crisis, wrestling with writer’s block, trapped in a thankless job, or trying to remedy a fraying friendship, the resulting emotion is usually a mix of anxiety, uncertainty, fear, anger, and numbness. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Anatomy of a Breakthrough is the “deeply researched and compelling” (Cal Newport, New York Times bestselling author of Digital Minimalism) roadmap we all need to escape our inertia and flourish in the face of friction.

Historia
For more than 30 years, Fred Rogers was a beloved fixture in American homes. Warm and welcoming, he spoke directly to children - and their parents - about the marvels of the world, the things that worried them, and above all, the importance of being themselves. Dressed in his cardigan and sneakers, Fred Rogers offered a wholesome message of generosity and love that changed the landscape of television and shaped a generation of children. Kindness and Wonder pays tribute to this cultural icon: the unique, gentle man who embodied the best of what we could be.

I loved this book. I grew up watching Mister R. This book shares quite a few facts and stories that I had never heard. This book should be required reading for every human on the planet. We could all use a reminder of how we can be kinder humans in this world.
I highly recommend this book. The stories will touch you and have you considering your impact on others in this world.

Historia
We say some people march to the beat of a different drummer. But implicit in this cliché is that the rest of us march to the same beat. We sleepwalk through life, find ourselves on well-worn paths that were never ours to walk, and become a silent extra. Extraordinary people carve their own paths as leaders and creators. They think and act with genuine independence. They stand out from the crowd because they embody their own shape and color. We call these people geniuses—as if they’re another breed. But genius isn’t for a special few. It can be cultivated. This book will show you how.

Historia
If there’s one trait that makes someone well-suited to comedy, it’s being able to take a punch - metaphorically and, occasionally, physically. Told with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, A Very Punchable Face reveals the brilliant mind behind some of the dumbest sketches on television, and lays bare the heart and humor of a hardworking guy - with a face you can’t help but want to punch.

I enjoyed this audiobook. I did find myself laughing out loud a few times. If you like SNL humour, you will enjoy this book. If you think that Colin will be more relatable and someone you would connect with on the street, then refer to the aptly named title of the book.

A book for the rest of us
Revisado: 08-22-22
I really enjoyed this book! I am the same age as Rob, but grew up in the US. So many of the stories were relatable and the pressure to be a boy when reality was a complete contrast.
There seemed to be so much pressure growing up in a toxic masculinity focused world. As I hit the 2nd half of my life, it all means so much less. I find myself trying to heal, to grow, to allow, and to care so much less for the past.
Thank you for writing this book.

Historia
In White Fragility, Robin DiAngelo explained how racism is a system into which all White people are socialized and challenged the belief that racism is a simple matter of good people versus bad. DiAngelo also made a provocative claim: White progressives cause the most daily harm to people of color. In Nice Racism, her follow-up work, she explains how they do so. Drawing on her background as a sociologist and over 25 years working as an anti-racist educator, she picks up where White Fragility left off and moves the conversation forward.

Everyone needs to listen to this book
Revisado: 07-08-22
I was blown away at the depth and candour in this book. I applaud the author for their research and for laying out the damage that can be done by well-meaning people if they do not consider their impact. I finish this book with a lot of work ahead of me. I need to consider how the feedback in this book shows up for me and the work that I need to do to reduce harm and to be able to positively affect change.
Thank you for calling out the work that needs to done.

I bought the book and listened to the audio. I love hearing Brene’s subtle quips and variations in the audible version.
This book will touch your heart and make you consider how your emotions and responses impact those around you. You may also realise why others lash out or respond to you in a manner that upsets you.

Historia
If you’ve ever felt ineffective, invisible, or inarticulate, chances are you weren’t actually any of those things. Those feelings may instead have been the result of a lack of awareness we all seem to have for how our words, actions, and even our mere presence affect other people. In You Have More Influence Than You Think, social psychologist Vanessa Bohns draws from her original research to illustrate why we fail to recognize the influence we have, and how that lack of awareness can lead us to miss opportunities or accidentally misuse our power.

Historia
Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”
