Historia
1924. Lady Eleanor Swift and her butler Clifford are touring the great, ancient sights of Egypt on a much-anticipated extended vacation. But when the pair arrive at the docks in Cairo expecting to board the luxurious paddle steamer advertised in their brochure, they are baffled by the crumbling old cruiser waiting for them. And things only go from bad to worse as death stalks the decks of the SS Cleopatra.

Difficult to engage
Revisado: 01-05-25
Good story. Not my favorite. Strangely, I’ve been to Egypt and traveled up the Nile. Even though it’s easy to imagine the landscape, I didn’t have any easy time “seeing” the author’s descriptions and didn’t really engage in the story until 3 hours into the book. The characters were diverse and not well described. I couldn’t see them in my mind. This isn’t typical for my experiences with Verity’s books. I’m being generous with my stars because the performance is always wonderful. It’s the writing the got me on this one.

The Coven King prophecy is a sure thing, and every witch in Fresco City knows it by now. What's more, even the coastal super covens are growing aware. They're not happy. Yet. Give them time to warm up to him, though.

Less like a Harlequin Romance…
Revisado: 11-22-24
…more like Penthouse Forum. The story line, while entertaining, is more in service to the sex scenes than the other way around. If you’re in it for the story, well, it’s okay. If you’re in it for the “raw passion”, this is your book.

Mostly good, but…
Revisado: 10-29-24
I would have preferred if the male narrator did the Arthur sections instead of the female. Otherwise a good story. Good voice characterizations. Not as spicy as other stories in this category, but there’s enough for prurient interest.

Logan Morrison always fought for everything he had, but it never was much. Growing up truly alone did that to you. One day, when taking on an extra tutoring gig to help out a cute chick with a quirky name, she ends up bringing him back to her place. Cool, right? Well, the next morning, Logan wakes up in chains and comes to learn that Cherry Cola is one beautiful and unhinged monster girl member out of three in a small Fresco City witch coven. Their plans for him? Servitude.

There are more than a few explicit scenes, with graphic language. It IS entertaining, and the story line is fun. Just be ready to listen to it alone or with headphones. Seriously NSFW!!

Historia
July 1912. Lady Hardcastle and her tenacious lady’s maid, Florence Armstrong, are enjoying a convivial gathering at the home of their dear friends, the Farley-Strouds. The only fly in the idyllic ointment seems to be the lack of musical entertainment for the forthcoming summer party—until, that is, Lady Hardcastle’s brother Harry calls with news of a murder.

Lady Hardcastle and Flo are called in to help head off a potentially war (WWI) causing catastrophe
Revisado: 05-24-24
The plot was filled with the entertaining banter of Lady Hardcastle, her brother and Flo as they worked together to put together the pieces of an initially simple puzzle in this pre WWI suspense. The level of distain toward women who were given any level of power was probably correct for the day but aggravating to listen to. My reaction surprised me as a caught myself muttering reactions under my breath. I enjoyed the plot twists and the end was gratifying (I’m not giving away the plot) but left room for many episodes in this great series. Thanks, TE Kinsey! Another success in this fun series!

England, 1925. When Lord Edgington receives an invitation to spend the Christmas holiday with an old colleague from the police, he expects fine food, good conversation, and the warmth of a roaring fire. Historia
Stephanie Plum, Trenton’s hardest working, most underappreciated bounty hunter, is offered an assignment that seems simple enough. Local jeweler Martin Rabner wants her to locate his former security guard, Andy Manley (a.k.a. Nutsy), who he is convinced stole a fortune in diamonds from his safe. Stephanie is also looking for another troubled man, Duncan Dugan, a fugitive from justice arrested for robbing the same jewelry store on the same day.

Fun and her regular formula
Revisado: 11-05-23
Nice hook at the end. One she’s used before. Let’s see if this one goes anywhere.
I enjoy Stephanie and the other cast of characters. No one ages. Janet’s formulas continue to work. I get a good laugh more than once in these books. It’s why I keep coming back. Are these the best books ever? No. Are they fun and a decent read (or listen)? Yes. Janet’s team has skill and they keep putting out decent books in this series.

Historia
May 1912. After the previous year’s deadly heatwave, it’s been an uneventful spring in Littleton Cotterell. Though for Lady Hardcastle and her fiercely loyal lady’s maid Flo, at least there are the provincial delights of the village’s inaugural art exhibition—and bicycle race—to look forward to. But at the exhibition opening, there’s a panicked shout of ‘Fire!’ In the confusion, the main attraction—an extremely expensive book—is stolen from under everyone’s nose, as is a valuable painting lent by Sir Hector Farley-Stroud.

Revisado: 09-30-23
I already love the characters and the author continued to add more people to the community that you look forward to seeing again. Such a fun plot that I couldn’t unravel. I tied but he’s quite good at muddling the reader and keeping the plot complex. I don’t mind. Solving it isn’t on my agenda. I just love going along for the ride inside the minds of the main characters. Thanks for another fun book, T.E. Kinsey! I look forward to the next installment!

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

For five grand a month and a million-dollar chaser, Roger Mulligan didn't care how crazy the old geezer was. All he had to do was keep Joseph Perry Shackleford alive and keep him from squandering the estate for a year. But they didn't tell him about the pixies.

I really enjoyed this story. A tiny bit if magic but a full story of intrigue and some mystery. A bit of a slow start but once over the hump I was fully intrigued and listening with full attention. I look forward to book 2!
