Historia
Aziz Shehadeh was many things: lawyer, activist, and political detainee. He was also the father of bestselling author and activist Raja. In this searingly personal memoir, Raja Shehadeh unpicks the snags and complexities of their relationship. A vocal and fearless opponent, Aziz resists under the British mandatory period, then under Jordan, and, finally, under Israel. As a young man, Raja fails to recognize his father’s courage, and in turn, his father does not appreciate Raja’s own efforts in campaigning for Palestinian human rights. When Aziz is murdered in 1985, it changes Raja irrevocably.

Great historical story
Revisado: 12-18-23
Loved the personal, family story of the Palestinian experience prior to 1948 and since. For anyone who thinks Palestine was “a land without a people “, they should read this story. It is so sad what has happened to Palestine & the Palestinian people!!!

Historia
In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only 29 years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. But with an incompetent defense attorney and a different system of justice for a poor black man in the South, Hinton was sentenced to death by electrocution. He spent his first three years on Death Row at Holman State Prison in despairing silence.

Amazing story
Revisado: 12-31-22
What an amazing story, tragic in the sense of racial injustice, but hopeful in that justice finally prevailed. There should have been monetary compensation for 30 lost years.

Historia
The year was 1917. As a war raged across the world, young American women flocked to work, painting watches, clocks, and military dials with a special luminous substance made from radium. It was a fun job, lucrative and glamorous - the girls themselves shone brightly in the dark, covered head to toe in the dust from the paint. They were the radium girls. As the years passed, the women began to suffer from mysterious and crippling illnesses.

This is a sad and amazing story

I had not heard about these girls before reading this book. These poor girls were so brave and were the victims of greedy companies/corporations. Unbelievable how companies do not care about their employees if they can make money off of them. To this day, this kind of greed continues.
