Historia
The English-speaking peoples comprise perhaps the greatest number of human beings sharing a common language in the world today. These people also share a common heritage. For his four-volume work, Sir Winston Churchill took as his subject these great elements in world history. Volume 1 commences in 55BC, when Julius Caesar famously "turned his gaze upon Britain" and concludes with the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.

Poor history decent propaganda
Revisado: 02-24-25
While an admirable statesman, nonfactual pseudohistory has no place in nonfiction. Quintessential post-truth political dribble in the vein of Trumpism and Neonaziism. hard pass.

The Ghosts of the Tanith First-and-Only have been away from the front line for too long. Listless and hungry for action, they are offered a mission that perfectly suits their talents. The objective: the mysterious Salvation's Reach, a remote and impenetrable stronghold concealing secrets that could change the course of the Sabbat Worlds campaign.

Goes to show how much a bad narrator can really ruin a good 40K novel. Really just....bad. The accents, the "different voices" which are impossible to distinguish. Honestly, would have been wayyyyy better if there were 0 attempts at accents or voices.

The desert planet Arrakis, called Dune, has been destroyed. Now, the Bene Gesserit, heirs to Dune's power, have colonized a green world—and are tuning it into a desert, mile by scorched mile. Chapterhouse Dune is the last book Frank Herbert wrote before his death: A stunning climax to the epic Dune legend that will live on forever.

The final original dune
Revisado: 11-24-20
Look, you either loved, hated or were ambivalent to Frank Herbert's conclusion to Dune. You may feel the same about Brian Herbert and Anderson's continuation. All of those points-of-view are subjective and thus equally valid. However, I for one feel it's incontrovertible that Frank Herbert wrote *the* geopolitical sci-fi novel grounded within his first trilogy. From there? He engaged in a work of world building unseen since the Foundation series and those same glide paths were seemingly followed by Andrrson/Herbert. Will they ever replace the original trilogy? No. But neither will Episodes 1-3 of Star Wars. The fact is, the ground work of an insightful series was laid in 3 of the best works of science fiction ever assembled; and, even with Frank's death, we are still blessed by the world building upon which Brian and Anderson continue to attempt to keep alive.

Historia
For much of his life, historian Howard Zinn chronicled American history from the bottom up, throwing out the official version taught in schools - with its emphasis on great men in high places - to focus on the street, the home, and the workplace. Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, A People's History of the United States is the only volume to tell America's story from the point of view of - and in the words of - America's women, factory workers, African-Americans, Native Americans, the working poor, and immigrant laborers.

I can say, without qualification, that this book should be taught in every HS throughout the US. I'd call it one of the definitive American Histories.

Historia
Over the last two decades, America has been falling deeper and deeper into a statistical mystery: Poverty goes up. Crime goes down. The prison population doubles. Fraud by the rich wipes out 40 percent of the world’s wealth. The rich get massively richer. No one goes to jail. In search of a solution, journalist Matt Taibbi discovered the Divide, the seam in American life where our two most troubling trends—growing wealth inequality and mass incarceration—come together, driven by a dramatic shift in American citizenship: Our basic rights are now determined by our wealth or poverty.

Sickening. Amazing.
Revisado: 11-07-19
Matt Taibbi does an amazing job telling a horrifying truth about American. This book envoked anger enough in me as a former JP Morgan employee to lessen my already negative opinion of the company and of our system which has become a corporate kleptocracy.
