Disappointed
Revisado: 11-17-23
Considering this is fiction, I assumed I’d have an escape from reality. This book is overly saturated with COVID and MAGA references. We get it!

Slow and Plotless
Revisado: 10-11-22
As a fan of Alex’s previous work, I thought I’d give this book a listen, despite its less than stellar reviews. That was a mistake. The characters are merely shells that lack personality and downright boring. The plot was not well thought out. There were multiple storylines, which one seemed like an afterthought. Very disappointed in this read!

Holds Interest!
Revisado: 11-29-21
I think some of the previous critics were a bit too harsh. Yes, there were times the story dragged on; however, I thought the story depicted the rollercoaster marriage can be. The plot twist was good, but the ending fell flat. Overall, worth listening to!

Lifetime as a book
Revisado: 12-02-20
While I expect some unrealistic drama in a thriller, this was waaaaay over the top! Also, was super irritated with the damsel in distress theme. Seriously, is this island populated by only men and Nell???
Narrator sounded like a 65 year old ninny. Just didn’t jive with the character who is supposed to be 34.

Slow
Revisado: 07-06-20
I had high hopes for this book; however, I found it to be painfully slow and boring. Characters are shallow and the reader is unable to relate. I found myself hoping there would be some sort of plot twist, but ultimately ended the book disappointed. Save the credit and avoid.

Historia
An intense psychological thriller for fans of I Am Watching You, The Luckiest Girl Alive, and All the Missing Girls. Two missing girls. Thirteen years apart. Olivia Shaw has been missing since last Tuesday. She was last seen outside the entrance of her elementary school in Hunts Point wearing a white spring jacket, blue jeans, and pink boots. I force myself to look at the face in the photo, into her slightly smudged features, and I can't bring myself to move. Olivia Shaw could be my mirror image, rewound to 13 years ago.

Bland storyline, not enjoyable
Revisado: 04-13-20
I usually find some redeeming aspect of any book I listen to; however, this story was lackluster and the main character was unlikeable, which made it difficult to produce any empathy for her past and present circumstances. The narrator did not align with the character. Instead of a wigged out junkie and kidnapping survivor, she sounded like one of those vlogger moms.
I wouldn’t recommend.

A young woman haunted by a family tragedy is caught up in a dangerous web of lies and deception involving a secret society in this highly charged, addictive psychological thriller that combines the dishy gamesmanship of Gossip Girl with the murky atmosphere of The Secret History. One summer day, Grace Fairchild, the beautiful young wife of real estate mogul Alistair Calloway, vanished from the family’s lake house without a trace, leaving behind her seven-year old daughter, Charlie, and a slew of unanswered questions.

Not a thriller- listener beware
Revisado: 11-13-19
This was probably one of the most boring books I’ve ever listened to. I went into the book with hopes of a psychological thriller (as it was categorized), but was extremely disappointed that this turned out to be an implausible romance novel. Neither of the leading ladies in the book are likable and their experiences, overall, are unlikely and cliche at best. Narrator did the best she could with the material, so not fault to her.

Historia
In this superb new psychological thriller, an unraveling woman becomes fixated on her neighbor - the beautiful, successful actress. Trapped in a rundown apartment and dead-end job, the unnamed narrator is unhappily childless and recently separated. She can’t help noticing with wry irony that the actress, meanwhile, has her face on the side of every bus, a gleaming brownstone, a handsome husband, and three beautiful children, including a baby. Though they live just a few doors apart, the two women are separated by a chasm of professional success and personal fulfillment.
