Historia
There are redwoods in California that were ancient by the time Columbus first landed and pines still alive that germinated around the time humans invented writing. There are Douglas firs as tall as skyscrapers and a banyan tree in Calcutta as big as a football field. From the tallest to the smallest, trees inspire wonder in all of us, and in The Tree, Colin Tudge travels around the world - throughout the United States, the Costa Rican rain forest, Panama and Brazil, India, New Zealand, China, and most of Europe - bringing to life stories and facts about the trees around us.

Not the book described in the Audible summary
Revisado: 04-28-17
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Based on the publisher's summary, and a fascinating opening chapter, I was disappointed that much of the book is a tedious taxonomy. Much attention is paid to Latin names and cataloging; the really interesting facts about trees are buried in all of that.
What aspect of Enn Reitel’s performance would you have changed?
The narrator has a style that's somehow sing-song and monotonous at the same time.
Was The Tree worth the listening time?
I only made it halfway through the book before returning it. I'm sure readers who are interested in the minutiae of class, order, family, etc. will enjoy it.

Historia
When the obituary of legendary computer game architect Matthew Sobol appears online, a previously dormant daemon activates, initiating a chain of events that begins to unravel our interconnected world. This daemon reads news headlines, recruits human followers, and orders assassinations. With Sobol’s secrets buried with him, and as new layers of his daemon are unleashed, it’s up to Detective Peter Sebeck to stop a self-replicating virtual killer before it achieves its ultimate purpose - one that goes far beyond anything Sebeck could have imagined.

Couldn't Take The EarBuds Out
Revisado: 06-28-11
Astounding, frightening, plausible, brilliant. You don't need to have ever played an online game or have any special computer knowledge to enjoy this book. Here's hoping for a sequel - he certainly opened the door for one.

A missing canister of a deadly virus. A lab technician bleeding from the eyes. As a Christmas Eve blizzard whips out of the north, several people, Toni among them, converge on a remote family house. All have something to gain or lose from the drug developed to fight the virus. As the storm worsens, the emotional sparks—jealousies, distrust, sexual attraction, rivalries—crackle; desperate secrets are revealed; hidden traitors and unexpected heroes emerge.

Save your credit for another Follett book
Revisado: 05-22-11
Follett is a master of both the thriller and, more recently, the historical drama, so I'm at a loss to figure out how he laid this egg, and why his publisher went along. It's just bad. Boring, slow, stilted, with superficial characters doing improbable things. Weirder still, Follett's historical dramas show he's quite capable of putting himself in the shoes - the heart and mind - of a woman character, but the women in this book are poorly drawn and mind-numblngly boring. Alistair MacClean defined this genre more than 40 years ago with The Satan Bug. This book adds nothing to it and comes nowhere close to achieving the same level of suspense, interest, or - or even accurate research into biohazards and medical labs. Save your credit.

The MOST Essential Parts of the Book Are Omitted
Revisado: 12-30-10
My advice: buy the book in print, don't waste your time with the audio version. The material is good, but the worksheets and checklists that are ESSENTIAL to doing the exercises that form the core of the book are left out of the audio version. This is inexcusable for a book described as "unabridged."
