Historia
In the spring of 2020, Lara’s three daughters return to the family's orchard in Northern Michigan. While picking cherries, they beg their mother to tell them the story of Peter Duke, a famous actor with whom she shared both a stage and a romance years before at a theater company called Tom Lake. As Lara recalls the past, her daughters examine their own lives and relationship with their mother, and are forced to reconsider the world and everything they thought they knew.

A simple story, yet very intriguing….
Revisado: 04-07-25
I liked the story lasting a lifetime of a simple woman, who unexpectedly became involved in summer theater. There she met the first love of her life foe that summer.. The romance ended at the end of that summer after she injured herself, had to wear a large cast, and her understudy replaced here in the play and in her lover’s life. The woman had previously made a movie which was only released years later while she was in the cast. At that time despite offers to do other projects, she quit acting and went home to her grandmother and join her in a seamstress shop.
She keeps an eye on her former lover who become a huge tv and movie star. The woman eventually marries a man she had also met while acting. He gives up acting and they buy a fruit farm in Michigan from some of his relatives. The story tells of their life running the farm, raising 3 daughters, and continue to follow the career of the star she had once loved….Her daughters continue to question the relationship she had with the movie star.
It all proved to be a normal farm life with a few incidents involving their old movie careers.

Historia
TJ Devlin is the charming disappointment in the prominent Devlin family, all of whom are lawyers at their highly successful firm—except him. After a stint in prison and rehab for alcoholism, TJ can’t get hired anywhere except at the firm, in a make-work job with the title of investigator. But one night, TJ’s world turns upside down after his older brother John confesses that he murdered one of their clients, an accountant he’d confronted with proof of embezzlement. It seems impossible coming from John, the firstborn son and Most Valuable Devlin.

The non_fiction aspects running through the novel!
Revisado: 03-22-25
I liked learning about AAA and Gamblers Anonymous. More importantly, I was horrified by the medical experiments which were carried out among prisoners at prisons in Philadelphia, through the 1970’s, by doctors at the Univ. of Penn. Those interesting real life experiences were told through the various members of the Delvin family. Each family member’s story dealt with the above mentioned issues and was incredibly suspenseful!

Historia
For GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton, McAlpine Lodge seems like the ideal getaway to celebrate their honeymoon. Set on a gorgeous, off-the-grid mountaintop property, it’s the perfect place to unplug and reconnect. Until a bone-chilling scream cuts through the night. Mercy McAlpine, the manager of the Lodge, is dead. With a vicious storm raging and the one access road to the property washed out, the murderer must be someone on the mountain. But as Will and Sara investigate the McAlpine family and the other guests, they realize that everyone here is lying.

Extremely intriguing
Revisado: 02-25-25
All of Karin Slaughters books are riveting. I don’t know where she pulls all her crime story and schemes from. The Will Trent brooks are my favorites. You learn about the life of children raised in a children’s home: things you never thought of before. I will continue to read all of the books she writes.

This was the best “WILL TRENT” book thus far, written by Karin Slaughter !
Revisado: 02-10-25
I feel that this book should be made into a mini-series for television.. There were many stories being told simultaneously about the main character's’ lives in addition to several intensely intriguing plots leading to an epic novel. It also was the first “Will Trent” story that swayed me into feeling comfortable with Will’s personal life taking possibly a new direction…

Historia
Cast out of the royal court by Eleanor of Aquitaine, deemed too coarse and rough-hewn for marriage or courtly life, seventeen-year-old Marie de France is sent to England to be the new prioress of an impoverished abbey, its nuns on the brink of starvation and beset by disease. At first taken aback by the severity of her new life, Marie finds focus and love in collective life with her singular and mercurial sisters. In this crucible, Marie steadily supplants her desire for family, for her homeland, for the passions of her youth with something new to her.

Women ruling the world.
Revisado: 12-31-24
I didn’t like, or understand the religious connotation behind the book. It received such good reviews, but it was way over my head, due to the religious aspects. Because I am not a believer in the Bible or formal religion, I was not able to understand what was happening. I believe you need a basic knowledge or belief in Catholicism to begin to understand the story. There was a fantasy aspect, but I couldn’t tell the difference in what was imititating reality, and what was supposed to be pure fantasy. Definitely not my kind of book!

Historia
1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It’s why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it’s why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women with whom she flies. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.

Women Who Helped America Win World War II
Revisado: 11-24-24
This was a very interesting book that told the little known story of how woman airpilots helped to win WWII..They were not admitted to the air force or any other branch of the military. They tested all the jets that would be used in the war, taught military pilots, and were even there when Pearl Harbor was hit.yet, they received no benefits from having served, or no aide from the GI Bill.

Should be required Reading!
Revisado: 11-22-24
I faintly remember when our country was really going through this horrible period. I was a kid growing up. Things didn’t seem quite that bad in Pa., but maybe that is because I was white. The author covers a lot of the conflict that was happening between blacks and whites, long after our laws had forbidden it. (Segregation) If you are white, you feel shame, horror and total sadness for being white. There is still some racial tension. I kept thinking that Dear God, don’t let these dividing issues get worse again now that our population has brought Trump back .He sets our American democracy back hundreds of years. And this time the man born with incomplete brains is out to destroy our Democracy, which is evidenced so far by his inappropriate cabinet picks!

And sometimes the lies are to spite Evie, who longs to leave her unhappy marriage in Perry County, Alabama, and return to her beloved New Hampshire. But for Dixie and her brother, Alabama is home, a place of pine-scented breezes and hot, languid afternoons.
