Historia
There is a world. One of endless night, surrounded by an even deeper darkness. Filled with nightmares come to life, twisted shapes that slink to windows and ease open doors, sliding across floors to look down on helpless faces. There is another world. A bright world, so bright it burns. Filled with stacked stones that call forth miracles, raised by callused hands that tremble in their work, drained with each stone lifted, settled, lifted again.

Hauntingly beautiful romance, spooktacular imaginings
Revisado: 02-19-25
This is an incredibly well done piece of art, and I would encourage any fantasy fan to give it a chance. Especially if you don't usually seek out romance in your reading, this may change your mind. like it did mine

Historia
Pyrre Lakatur is not, to her mind, an assassin, not a murderer - she is a priestess. At least, she will be once she passes her final trial. The problem isn't the killing. The problem, rather, is love. For to complete her trial, Pyrre has ten days to kill the seven people enumerated in an ancient song, including "the one who made your mind and body sing with love / who will not come again." Pyrre isn't sure she's ever been in love.

A spectacular exploration of Death and Love
Revisado: 08-20-22
I have loved Brian's previous series The Emperor's Blades enough to give skullsworn a shot and it was spectacular. Anyone looking for an impactful read that challenges common perceptions about death should give this a listen.

Historia
The Annurian Empire is disintegrating. The advantages it used for millennia have fallen to ruin. The ranks of the Kettral have been decimated from within, and the kenta gates, granting instantaneous travel across the vast lands of the empire, can no longer be used. In order to save the empire, one of the surviving Kettral must voyage beyond the edge of the known world through a land that warps and poisons all living things to find the nesting ground of the giant war hawks. Meanwhile, a monk turned con-artist may hold the secret to the kenta gates.

Spectacular vision, excellent voice acting
Revisado: 09-21-21
An unexpected but fantastic addition to the Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne. Brian Stavely manages not only to expand and deepen the already rich world he has created but also convincingly portrays in his characters what it is to be deeply flawed as a human being.
His depiction of one characters' descent into self-recrimination, self-isolation, and madness before struggling to find themselves again was masterful.
I eagerly await the next book in this series, and wish Brian the best of health until his story is told in its entirety.
