I recently listened to Estranged Parents Guide to Resilience. It was a profoundly moving and helpful experience. The narrator’s calming tone complements the author’s deeply empathetic approach, making the material engaging and accessible.
The heartbreaking stories of adult children cutting off contact with their parents in the book's first half serve a valuable purpose: they help parents feel less alone in their struggles. Harvey’s ability to address this pain with compassion and clarity is a true gift. The book's second half, filled with practical steps and exercises, empowers estranged parents to prioritize self-care, rebuild strength and resilience, and move forward in their lives.
This book isn’t just a guide—it’s a lifeline for anyone facing one of life’s most difficult and agonizing experiences. With her therapeutic tools and encouraging insights, the author provides comfort, clarity, and hope for those seeking to reclaim their lives after loss. Audible is my preferred way of reading so I’m pretty judgy. I would highly recommend Estranged Parents Guide to Resilience for anyone needing support and healing and for relatives and friends who love and want to support them.
Additionally I would like to suggest that there are many Parents, Grand Parents, Aunts and Uncles who are separated by (only?) distance and are unable to forge the close relationships they crave with the adult children they love. Each of us need to create a healthy life experience and the exercises within are applicable to all of us in creating the satisfying life experience outside of the bounds of what we expected or hoped for.
