Historia
Tabby has a peculiar gift: She can communicate with the recently departed. It makes her special, but it also makes her dangerous. As an orphaned child, she fled with her sister, Alice, from their charlatan aunt Bellefonte, who wanted only to exploit Tabby's gift so she could profit from the recent craze for seances. Now a young woman and tragically separated from Alice, Tabby works with her adopted father, Eli, the kind caretaker of a large Boston cemetery.

loved it
Revisado: 10-21-21
I have loved Hester Fox's writing voice since she released The Witch of Willow Hall. This book did not disappoint me. I loved the Boston atmosphere and the atmospheric vibes. If you like gothic novels definitely give her a try.

Historia
As the only Second Daughter born in centuries, Red has one purpose - to be sacrificed to the Wolf in the Wood in the hope he'll return the world's captured gods. Red is almost relieved to go. Plagued by a dangerous power she can't control, at least she knows that in the Wilderwood, she can't hurt those she loves. Again. But the legends lie. The Wolf is a man, not a monster. Her magic is a calling, not a curse. And if she doesn't learn how to use it, the monsters the gods have become will swallow the Wilderwood - and her world - whole.

Fun retelling
Revisado: 08-10-21
I'm literally rounding up my 4.75 to a 5. This book was so fun. I get that it's just a retelling of Beauty and the Beast which has been done A LOT, but I honestly loooove the take the author took on the story and I am really looking forward to the sequel.
Honestly I'm struggling to put into words how I felt beyond this sooo I will finish my review later.

Historia
There's a storm brewing over Eerie-on-Sea, and the fisherfolk say a monster is the cause. Someone has woken the ancient Gargantis, who sleeps in the watery caves beneath this spooky seaside town where legends have a habit of coming to life. It seems the Gargantis is looking for something: a treasure stolen from her underwater lair. And it just might be in the Lost-and-Foundery at the Grand Nautilus Hotel, in the care of one Herbert Lemon, Lost-and-Founder. With the help of the daring Violet Parma, ever-reliable Herbie will do his best to figure out what the Gargantis wants....

A must read middle grade
Revisado: 07-05-21
I love this middle grade series. I think it's so fun and unique. It's written so beautifully and the story is so engaging because it's nothing you will have seen or read before. I always say that this series is a fantastic read aloud book because it can be loved by all ages. The audiobook is wonderfully done as well. Would be a great listen on a long car trip with children.

Historia
Miss Jane Fairfield can't do anything right. When she's in company, she always says the wrong thing - and rather too much of it. No matter how costly they are, her gowns fall on the unfortunate side of fashion. Even her immense dowry can't save her from being an object of derision. And that's precisely what she wants. She'll do anything, even risk humiliation, if it means she can stay unmarried and keep her sister safe. Mr. Oliver Marshall has to do everything right. He's the bastard son of a duke, raised in humble circumstances...

Okay I guess
Revisado: 06-30-21
I oddly feel conflicted over this book. I really enjoyed the first book and honestly I enjoyed Emily and Anjan's story probably more than I enjoyed the first book. But it's a subplot in Jane and Oliver's story. I found myself struggling to connect with Jane, mostly due to needing a man to fix her problem.... I know that is not at all how it's supposed to come off but that's how it felt. And then the resolve to everything just feels weirdly unbelievable. Oliver I liked in the first book. He seemed like the strong, quiet sort from the first book, the level headed reasoner in the group of friends. This book didn't feel the same. I felt a little disappointed honestly.

Miss Minerva Lane is a quiet, bespectacled wallflower, and she wants to keep it that way. After all, the last time she was the center of attention, it ended badly - so badly that she changed her name to escape her scandalous past. Wallflowers may not be the prettiest of blooms, but at least they don't get trampled. So when a handsome duke comes to town, the last thing she wants is his attention.

Just read it
Revisado: 02-18-21
This was seriously a wild ride. I loved this book. Robert and Minnie's relationship is the most adorable thing in the world. Her aunts' love Minnie so much and the friendship between Lydia and Minnie is seriously so heart warming. The book evokes so much unconditional love from so many characters even with the strife both Minnie and Robert have gone through in their lives. It's beautiful and I seriously will be thinking about this book for weeks now that I have finished it. Seriously I think that this will be in my favorites of the year hands down.

Beautiful Gothic Tale
Revisado: 10-11-20
Oh man this book is a wild freaking ride.
I went into this book knowing very little and to be honest I think that is the best way for someone to read this book. To say the least most people say its a mystery of why an author picks this woman to be her biographer, but I would greatly disagree with that. This book is more of a story about siblings and their relationships. Its hard to explain it without giving anything away so I will leave it be.
After reading it you are left with this compulsion to read it again so you can read it with the knowledge of what's actually happening and see it with new eyes. I kept having to jump back and forth because I kept trying to connect scenes.
The book is soooo atmospheric and has a very gothic feeling to the writing. I really love how immersive it feels.
I was so freaking emotional at the end of the book that it was a bit ridiculous. Even with how dark and twisted the whole story is you feel so much compassion for the characters and hearing their stories can be a little overwhelming. I truly loved the entire experience though. I highly recommend this to any gothic readers or mystery lovers. Such a good book.

Historia
Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him?

Fun story
Revisado: 09-03-20
Well this was everything I needed in a book. I fell in love with Emily, April, Chris, and Simon. The back drop of the Ren Faire was so fun and unique. I think the epilogue was a little cliche and there was a few moments that felt... Odd for the characters behavior, but even still I had so much reading this book.

Great Syfy in interview format
Revisado: 08-22-20
I think that this book is the first book in a while that I legitimately could not guess what was going to happen next. I really love the interview format of the book. The characters were all very relatable and that when things go to shit you can't help but feel like you were punched in the gut. I love the way the book was left off and I can not wait to read the next book. This book was everything I could have wanted to read right now.

Historia
Maine, 1846. Gabriel Stone is desperate to escape the ghosts that haunt him in Massachusetts after his wife’s death, so he moves to Maine, taking a position as a minister in the remote village of Pale Harbor. But not all is as it seems in the sleepy town. Strange, unsettling things have been happening, and the townspeople claim that only one person can be responsible: Sophronia Carver, a reclusive widow who lives with a spinster maid in the eerie Castle Carver. Sophronia must be a witch, and she almost certainly killed her husband.

Alright but not as good as her debute novel
Revisado: 04-06-20
I enjoyed Hester Fox's debute novel and was really excited for the novel's release. I enjoyed it, but had a lot of trouble getting into the plot line. There is some things you need to suspend belief for, but it's not a bad book. I enjoyed it.
