Historia
If you're like many Christian moms today, you've been reading the headlines and watching the rapid-fire changes in our culture with frustration and fear. Let's face it: Moms today are facing questions that previous generations didn't even see coming, and even our right to determine what is best for our own children is under fire. Popular speaker and blogger Heidi St. John ("The Busy Mom") believes that today's mothers need a special kind of strength. We need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

Fun and an uplifting listen
Revisado: 05-16-20
loved listening to this while I cooked dinner or did the laundry. it's not a super hard book to follow and the advice is so easy. it's like getting a reminder from a friend of all the amazing mom things you need to keep in mind to grow.
not profound and I didn't take anything away I didn't already know but it was so fun to have the author reading, it felt like she was in my home sharing a cup of coffee. definitely needed this uplifting listen.

I unfortunately could only get through half the book. I kept coming back to the book because the content was what i have been looking for as a parent and I will definitely be buying it so I can read it myself. This will also be a good book to reference back to. But I couldn't get past the speaker. It was dry, dull and no life to the reading. You couldn't feel the words behind it and that's something i need when I'm listening to a book so that was a game changer.

Historia
Among our greatest fears is the dread of what others would think of us "if they only knew" - the parts of our past we hope to forget, the parts of our present we work to conceal. Yet the part we actually do the best job of hiding is not the unsightly debris of our own mess, but rather the stunning beauty of God's grace. The fear that demands we protect this false image at all costs leads us to unwittingly declare a false gospel at every turn. Jamie Ivey finally grew tired of doing that, tired of being too ashamed and insecure to let others see the full extent of what God was capable of doing with our unworthiness. So she quit hiding.

Love and a must listen
Revisado: 09-25-19
The way this author told this story and narrated it was just what my soul needed. You can feel her talking to you and you can tell the book came from the heart. I put off getting this book for so long and wish I would of listened sooner. Encouragement your not alone, everyone makes mistakes and everyone is human. Her story is both inspiring and relatable on so many levels.

A must read/listen. You won't be disappointed.

As a mom to two kids I am so very thankful for this book. Its helped me look at slowing down and just letting our family be in the moment as something essential. This will be a book that will stay on a yearly reading list for a much needed refresher. If your not sure this pertains to you because you don't have the "massively busy life" it's still worth listening to. So many times this book was recommended to me and I thought "Eh. I'm not that person, I'm not that busy." so I put it off for months and wish I listened to it sooner.

a must read

I wish I wouldn't have procrastinated so much in buying this book. I kept over looking it and choosing other book and this is now my #1 parenting book I recommend to all of my friends. The author makes it very clear how to apply everything she talks about and for once I'm not left with wondering how to apply 'gentle parenting'. Every topic I had questions about was covered from a range of ages and will be able to come back to this as a reference even when my children get older. Some of the gentle parenting books I have recently listened to had a very robotic narrator, I'm thankful this is not one of them. The narrator was easy to listen to.

I wish I would have read this sooner
Revisado: 11-01-17
I absolutely love this book! I wish I would have read/listened to this book earlier in my journey to becoming a parent. After reading some of the reviews I decided to wait on reading it but this will be a book I reference back to many times I'm sure and will be listening to it again soon and will be getting the printed version so I have it available to flip through pages due to it being more difficult to find certain sections with an autio book.
There's a few chapters the author goes over where she's talks about dealing with childhood experiences and how you were raised. This section was extremely helpful and made me question a lot of what I was taught as a child and what I have carried into my parenting practice. Theres references to other books but there's also a ton of examples the author gives in situations where your not sure how to apply positive parenting. I cannot express how helpful this is. I felt almost stuck when I started my positive parentinf journey because I was reading books that didnt have examples! She both addresses toddlers AND older kids. if your on the fence about reading this book or listening to it. Do it. you wont regret it.
My only complaint was with the autio book the person who narrated sounded like a robot which can be annoying at times.
